Beta Boys, does the update spare us the long haul to low wakes? Squadrons enquiry too!

How many of you are fed up of spending minutes trying to travel to within 1mm of a low wake you consider critical to reach quickly only to find it vanishes or the person you may be trying to render aid to there has long since when *BOOM*. It's a tedious affair.

I think I may have touched upon this previously, but when one Nav Locks a wingman they benefit from hugely increased drop distances! Why is this not the default mechanic where low wakes are concerned? There's clearly an algorithm involved since the distances always tend to fluctuate even with a wingman Nav Lock drop.

The current system needs to change because the low wakes are the most tedious means of reaching a person in need of aid who doesn't happen to be in your wing. Especially so when the wake expires.

Different question too. Does Squadrons add any added benefit for members, such as Nav Lock drop capability and non assault charges where crossfire is concerned?

Of course there is the other side of this delay which has to be considered.....

Avoiding a griefing attack, I spot a heavily combat orinantated FDL taking an interest in me, you emergency drop down, you need that 'Time' to cool off and plot a high wake course out of the system

Uh, you know to “slow down at 6” and that once your speed is “kissing the blue” you can smash full throttle and you’ll get a “Safe to Disengage” with half a second to spare.

Well I do hope FD considers some improvements and increases the duration of the wakes or at least the distance to within 100ls.

How about adding the option to enable auto distress signals when a player is interdicted so that this generates a distress specific low wake that can be dropped in on at longer range so that any heroes might be able to get their in good enough time to help.

Right now low wakes are just too slow to hone in on.

Not actually sure the timers have changed, I'll often jump into a system, use the FSS to find some HGE's etc, check the timer and notice I have less than a minute to travel 10,000LS. Am assuming those HGE's where already there before I jumped in system, so just bad luck on my part.

I do enjoy using the FSS though, greatly enhanced my experience overall.

@Miko - The idea sounds good in theory, I reckon in practice it would rarely be used for rescuing someone, more a case of sticking the boot in whilst someone is already getting a kicking.

Low wake emergency drops have saved my butt on many occasions, I don't wan't anyone 'easily dropping in' unless I have let them join my wing.

Most enemies are already in wings which means if one has dropped then they all drop. Does squadrons allow for wing drops? I'd still argue it favours somebody more defensively than working against them offensively. But I do get the cons being very real. Especially where you might drop before someone behind you interdicts, or you jump out and somebody with your foe see's your wake and can immediately drop with you if they're within range.
