I Don't Know What To Do...! Again!

1. CQC is really cool, reminds me of my Unreal Tournament days.
2. Anachronox is a very very strange old (2001?) RPG that is as wacky and as sophisticated as A Hitchhiker's Guide. It's the usual dystopian science fiction, but it is terribly silly and utterly charming with little yellow round chubby spaceships and stinky socks. It takes a while to get into, but gets better as you go on. You can get it on GOG for a pittance.

I can never get a match in CQC ..

Anachronox, I loved that game. Played it when it was new. Lol
Never did finish it though...

I'm still playing Fallout 4 when I need to take a break from ED. Tried FO76 and if you think this game is a grind fest. Go check out that pile.

As soon as Mech Warrior 5 and Cyber Punk come out you wont be seeing me for a while...lol

Hmmm, Mechwarrior 5. I did enjoy Mechwarrior online for a bit (very grindy, but also very fun).
When's that due out?

I know what you mean OP all my individual stuff is on hold till 3.3.

However if you are in a PMF supporting it is always an easy way of providing yourself with an in-game purpose.

I've been galavanting around beta for a couple of weeks now. Lovin' it so far, but there's literally no point trying to progress, because, well it's beta and it'll all be gone soon™...

This is one of "why's" why I stay away from betas. It only tease my hunger without sating it. It's like with cooking - if you spend too much time in the kitchen you can't really appreciate the final meal. Staying away will tease your senses without overloading. Plus, everything will be new and exciting for me once chapter goes live. For you - not so much since you already saw and experienced it already. Sadly, you put it on you by yourself.

Annoyingly, Star Citizen is going to be free to play for a week. On Friday for a week.

Really? Looks like I need to run the update. Although I have a ship pack (small Aurora I won in some forum giveaway contest, lucky me for once) I haven't check on SC for months.

My girlfriend and I will be on holiday from work for a week too. But if I decide to spend our 10 year anniversary playing Star Citizen, I'll probably not live to see the 11th. Or 2019. Or probably even December. Lol

10 years and still girlfriend? Man, some marriages have shorter lifespan. If it's your anniversary then drop the stick and adore your better half all weekend long. I'm not saying be a man and ask for her hand or something but...

BE A MAN AND ASK FOR HER HAND ! If she stayed with you for 10 years and endured, what are you waiting for? Applause?

<applauds>
:)

As for other games... I've either completed them, or gotten bored of them.
Can't afford any new ones.

Heh, felt recently the same. Somehow can't convince myself to finish zone questing in WoW. 15 characters on server isn't helping either...

Hmmm... What's new on Origin I wonder!

Mass Effect Andromeda !
Yup, it's quite new for me. Being a fan of original trilogy I was really disappointed to see how badly received ME:A was. And that price tag back then, for half baked product. Nope. Few days ago I picked it since most of bugs were long "fixed" and price was acceptable. Now I'm "exploring" galaxy in my Tempest, I drive on planets in my SRV Nomad and I enjoy my space legs (hurr durr).

As one review stated "you can't fix the lack of story", I must somewhat agree. It's nowhere near Shepard's story and climate, characters are weak, I see lots of moments but I play. Despite all lacking things it's quite nice game.

But playing live now feels very drab, almost everything feels "old" and I want to go exploring, but I just can't deal with 3.2's system anymore. Lol
So I need beta... but there's no point.
Evil circle of doom!

All I can say is...
Meh.

And hurry up and release 3.3!! :p

I often get these "pre-update blues", and I usually end up finding an all new, or old game to keep me entertained, then often completely forget about the latest release for several weeks/months.

Hmmm... What's new on Origin I wonder!

I had no idea you could actually play Star Citizen. Are you sure you are right about that?
You might perhaps be able to fool around a bit for an hour or so, but actually playing the game? There is no real game yet. There are no gameplay loops to speak off, and there are more bugs than fish in the sea.

I am waiting for chapter 4 to go live too.
I have a huge backlog of un-played games. There are so many sales these days, and so little time...

I found something to do!

I've been engineering duplicate modules in my Krait Mk2, so my Phantom can get a near instant upgrade on launch!

Although, I still haven't decided if I want to take the Phantom or Mk2 out exploring yet... Lol

I'm just collected mats, all what will need to G5. I had long trip (80kLy) in my Krait, so next will be in Phantom. 3.3 where are you?

I feel for you with the difference that I haven't tried beta - I prefer to have the novelty of the finished product.
I am playing World of Warships and Civ6 in the meantime.

Can't wait for 3.3 to go live!

I have intentionally avoided most of the "fun stuff", and basically just did feature testing.

So they'll still be loads to explore once it goes live.

I always, always miss out on the free weeks/weekends of games I want to try. Lol

We're actually engaged, but neither of us can be bothered to actually get married. :p
We got engaged about 7 years ago. Lol

I tired WoW once. Had a two week free trial and got bored long before that ran out. Lol

ME:A was ok, I completed it, didn't feel anywhere near as good as the first two.
(I never actually finished ME3)

But I have Origin Access Basic, which is £20 a year, so I've got access to a load of games.
Unfortunately, they're all crap. Lol

Well, OP, that's the main reason for me, not to spoil myself with the beta. ;)

I'll wait till release and hoping, that my wingmates found every bug, so I can fully enjoy Chapter 4 in it's glory. :)

Until shortly after the beta dropped there had been three things in ED that really held little attraction for me: Mining, Exploration and Engineers. That was ok, I had plenty to do without 'em. However, messing around in the beta has convinced me that at least 2 of these (not so sure about mining yet, but see below) will become part of my gameplay in 3.3.

So my maingame time is now dedicated to unlocking and ranking engineers and stockpiling mats until the live drop of 3.3. If I want a change and have the time I'll take my now-even-longer-range 'conda off to unlock some guardian tech as well. The engineers that require a mining target to unlock, I'm skipping for now. I intend cracking those open to be my serious test of the new mining tools but will obviously be waiting to do that in the live galaxy rather than do it in the beta and have it all to do again after the update.

You could try finishing ME 3, Mostly it's ok, but does have a pervading sense of impending doom and the final ending with the 'star child' and pick a colour is a bit meh

Short of resetting my CMDR save (so, so glad I didn't in the end, mainly because of engineer and military grinds) I decided to liquidate most of my fleet (about 11 ships, small medium and large), and selling off all non- or minor-engineered modules from storage - only modules in storage are those with secondary effects and PP related gear.

It's an OCD I guess, the more ships I have, the more I need to engineer them, the less I can decide what ship to fly. Want to keep my fleet small (max 5 ships) so if I get bored of one, I'll strip the modules and sell the hull. Given money isn't a problem anymore I don't care too much about the 10% loss doing so.

Anyways, now I just have 3 very varied and highly engineered, A rated ships (Salvage Adder, Smuggler/Pirate Cobra Mk3 and PvE combat Corvette) and 900m+ credits in cash. Not having all that money tied up in ships and modules is quite a liberating feel, bit like a spring clean:). Krait Phantom is a definite addition once 3.3 hits, including the Black Friday paintjob (hoping that it'll be available beforehand).

Finally, got all non-Colonia engineers unlocked and maxed bar one (Nemo, only need to deliver the rare goods), re-visited some of them to update pinned blueprints, and will continue to gather mats so I won't have to worry about G5'ing modules for a while.

I'm ready for 3.3!

I played ME:A - having never played any of the previous ME games - it was an alright story and alright gameplay - got a bit samey after a while

There was a lot of hate from the ME fans mind you.

We're actually engaged, but neither of us can be bothered to actually get married. :p
We got engaged about 7 years ago. Lol

Now that's lazy... But if this suits you both, who am I to argue.

Know how you feel. I've been playing WoW for... over 11 years. Starting that long ago it was much smaller game, although vast at that time. Since then it grew about 3 times the original size and it can be really intimidating for new players. Leveling all the way to current end game levels can take pretty long time so no wonder people drop it long before that.

ME:A was ok, I completed it, didn't feel anywhere near as good as the first two.
(I never actually finished ME3)

You really should finish ME3, imo great closure for the entire story. In ME1 you got hints of upcoming threat. In ME2 you fight it behind the scenes while trying to get solid proof that will convince governments. ME3 biowaste hits the fan, "I told you" moment and then all or nothing vibe. With a massive climax at the end that got totally broke with final ending. Apart from grand finale that was totally disappointing, the rest of the game is really great. Even Citadel DLC, really worth getting.

You could try finishing ME 3, Mostly it's ok, but does have a pervading sense of impending doom and the final ending with the 'star child' and pick a colour is a bit meh

Sense of impending doom is the essence of that part. What I said above, hints of threat, then fighting "unofficially" and grand catastrophe in ME3. No "meh" here apart from the final ending. But again - playing ME 1 and 2 without 3 is like reading Lord of the Rings just Fellowship and 2 Towers.

OP. What I always do during the beta periods is stop playing Elite, watch all the live (love) streams, OA, D2EA, Rusty Dog etc and drool over the new content. I purposely delay gratification until the build goes into live and play other stuff I've neglected.

Works for me.

I dl'd the beta but haven't fired it up. I want to go blind into the live release. Instead I've been touring the guardian sites and gathering stuff for a ax-challenger. Propably go Thargoid hunting and maybe I'll hit combat Elite.
Had a strong urge to explore and mine but that would just be silly now.
Looking forward to the update but at the same time I feel quite content pootling around as is :)

..."transistor" or some other wee cheap indie game...

Now that's one of the most beautiful and touching games I've ever played. Highly recommended.

For anyone that isn't afraid of having to start over regularly in a turn-based roguelike with pauseable realtime battles where you have to micromanage a spaceship, "FTL:Faster Than Light" is a game I've regularly come back to for a quick session or three for several years now.

Should be out 1st Qtr I think. Was supposed to be December, but it got delayed.

ME3's ending was terrible. "It wont be A,B, or C ending. You decisions will matter" They just renamed them Red. Blue, or Green" With zero impact from your decisions. I play it on PC and got the mod that changes the ending and completely removes the star kid. It makes the ending better. Seriously BW gave up on ME halfway through ME3's production. Andromeda was a little rough around the edges, but I liked it. Reminded me of ME1.

My current thing to do is;

Fly to an anarchy system.
Kill Every. Single. Thing.

Scoop everything. Lol

Probably should have packed a better limpet controller though...

It's quite therapeutic!
