Well Done Commander (Freeport Ambush)

Look harder :D

Or make a run in at max chat from range after lining up from long range - should be interesting in a 'conda.

same way

Well done to the commander who ambushed me at Freeport (12:30-ish, GMT). You have mastered the art of stealth. Totally invisible on my scanner throughout and you got my drive down to 85%. Good job I jumped out of there immediately. I won't reveal where, but if you were lurking in the area where you jumped me, then I applaud you for your patience and cunning.

So, that leaves me with a problem. How do I get my fat Anaconda into Freeport without being ambushed?

Same way he attacked you probably, enter at 20km burst power to engines to full speed then flight assist off, you will maintain that speed till you turn it back on, at this point if you have fitted your conda with enough heatsinks simply bring your temp to zero and go silent running and every time it gets above say 10/20 use another sink, at which point about 7km from the station after getting docking permission turn flight assist back on you will slow...line up to the letterbox and boost once more if you aren't already bang on it....{i like to find the letterbox from 20 km out and line up the entry from there so there is little adjustment at the end} use more heatsinks to get to 0, hit full reverse to slow down at letterbox move undetected through the box at freezing point I have lost a few condas like this practicing and crashed, the trick is knowing when to apply the brakes and not hit the station whilst getting thro the letterbox but still maintain a decent rate of knots:) have entered stations like this forgetting to ask for docking permission and didn't even get a warning in and out, stay safe, stay off scanner stay cold :)

Disclaimer:
Obviously this cuts down the chances of getting hammered but you may still take a few shots from an eagle eyed commander who's shooting you without a target lock.

Just out of interest was he using cannons ?

Why so complicated? Just put on ignore and/or switch to solo mode, that´s how multiplayer encounters work these days

Going SOLO are only for chickens, just learn to play the game, or ask for help from other players. We do have comms you know :D

sad

It's a sad state of affairs when you have to do that though, it is the whole point of multiplayer to be challenged and find solutions to other peoples style of play :(

Are you sure it was stealth and not the invisible ship bug?

Exact same for me last night, I noticed my ship taking hits but was never told I was under attack nor was there any impact noises.

Figured it was a mixed up island bug and decided to get out quick !

if you do not have "warning under attack" and can't visually see attacker then it's a bug, i once was invisible in conflict zone - took a shot at red cmdr and he just kept flying straight, i followed him couple seconds and he didn't see me so i went back to shooting npcs, they at least shoot back.

i see no fun in killing someone who can't fight back ;)

I don't know how long your engagement lasted, but long enough to drop your shields and get your engine to 85% sounds like an extended engagement - it's not possible to stay stealthed and fight for that long - you just had a network bug.

Ships don't go completely invisible for more than a few seconds and even then, if they're firing the heat build up should be enough to let you detect them.

I'm not sure of course withhout being there - unless you were recording it...

Toad.

chess

In your opinion.

In my opinion multiplayer is for playing WITH my friends, not AGAINST them.

I play Chess with friends but I guess that's against them, nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition :)
BUt this game seems to afford every playstyle something or else the grouping and offline wouldn't be there :)

While the silly railguns can be used to blow up an Anaconda's reactor with 80% hull left, the PvP balance is so off that avoiding other players entirely is a perfectly valid option.
