What do you mean.. give them freedom?

I'd say, said american ignored not only warnings but a few laws and got inside the island illegally. Maybe you could as a nation, apologize because of the intrusion first and then ask for answers after? Don't know where you want to go with this.

Yes I wonder if Americans will ask for explanations.

I mean... I don't want to speak bad about the dead, but this guy... was an idiot.
There is no subtle way around it.

It's a secluded tribe that has been known for killing (or at least trying to kill) every stranger that tried to contact them. They have been left alone to live their lives. I think it's nice.
I REALLY hope this is the end of the story and no Americal politician or similarly stupid and arrogant person will get mixed into this. You know, try to "integrate" them, for example.

The guy did stupid thing, then died. The end.

Worse really. He broke laws in going there, laws to protect the tribe who likely have no immunity to modern diseases, so in his curiosity to explore and meet the tribe, he has potentially endangered their very existence.

Stupid and one has to say, just a bit selfish.

What else these people can do to make it clear - they want to be left alone. They lived there for who knows how many thousands of years. This is their land. Idiot knew where he was going, and got what he deserved.

Give it a couple of days. A rumour will surface that there might be oil resources under the island and somebody will volunteer to bring them some freedom. :D

With all respect to the adventurous soul who went there...

Maybe Disney sent in a representative.

Speartastic Park?

Woow steady on fella, who deserves a spearing, exactly, only people who write posts like your last one, maybe?

Nothing will happen. I've been to those islands, and not only is it illegal to go there, they have no immunity to diseases etc, but locals will tell you that they will kill you. Even the Indian navy stays away, not to mention fishermen etc

Also, India treats them as a sovereign people, so will not prosecute, or can not.

Agreed.

I agree with all sentiments that suggest this person was an absolute moron for attempting to get on the island. His selfish act could very easily wipe out the entire population with a simple virus. Not only do I believe he got what he deserved for his attempted genocide, I sincerely hope that the Sentinelese were not exposed to any pathogens from his worthless corpse. A pox on his house.

On a side note, I really can't stand "An *insert nationality here* dies" headlines. It's a person. Being Yank, Brit, French, Japanese, Thai or whatever should make no difference. It's a person, with family, friends, perhaps even a wife/husband and kids. This stuff should go beyond our stupid concept of lines drawn on a piece of paper to divide up a planet that is actually a whole..

But how else could the public react like this?

The Singapore Embassy received "a flood of letters" from Americans strongly supporting Fay's punishment
