The tribe must create a no man's land area on the island.

:)

Its quite possible they dont even understand the concept of what a no mans land actually means...no mans land is a concept of the civilized world and this tribe are not a part of that, so its not outside the realms of belief that they wouldnt understand what it is ye want them to make. Encouraging them to change to accomodate idiots is the same thing as trying to educate and integrate them. Maybe its us who should change to accomodate them? Or is integration the way to go? Its worked out so well in the past just look at Hawaii ^

Imagine if you lived in a community of 5000 people on an island where every other person outside your community had a disease which would kill 20% of your community if one of the outsiders came too close, what would you do?

It would be very unfortunate for the survivor of the boat accident but you can see why they would take that action.

They are probably unaware of those risks though. I wonder what is their concept of the world, its size, and how do they explain what they see from us (plastic garbage floating into their island, helicopters, etc.).

I mean... I don't want to speak bad about the dead, but this guy... was an idiot.
There is no subtle way around it.

It's a secluded tribe that has been known for killing (or at least trying to kill) every stranger that tried to contact them. They have been left alone to live their lives. I think it's nice.
I REALLY hope this is the end of the story and no Americal politician or similarly stupid and arrogant person will get mixed into this. You know, try to "integrate" them, for example.

The guy did stupid thing, then died. The end.

I'd dearly love to see this attitude extend into the game, too.

I can't speak for other Americans, but if this guy showed up on my yard after I told him not to come back (he had been there several times before) and tried to convert me, I'd have shot him too.

However the behavior of this tribe can not be 100% approved.

Imagine that a person or a group of people is the victim of the sinking of their boat and accidentally fail on the island.

The massacre in this case would be justified ?

What would you have people do, annihilate this tribe for wanting to be left alone?

They perceive all outsiders as threats, and they don't know how precisely right they are. When the outside world finally does intrude, it will destroy them.

I wouldn't bet on it. It would only take one or two incidents of outsiders coming into contact with the tribe and them getting ill for there to be a shoot on sight rule to be put in place. They don't need to understand what viruses are to get sick after all.

I'd be absolutely fascinated to hear how they view the outside world. Those Bruce Parry programs where he lived with various remote tribes in South America were really interesting.

Possible that if they shoot outsiders on sight that they might have past experience of outsiders and it wasn’t good which then explains perfectly what happened.

Possible...maybe even likely in this ever shrinking planet ^

The guy Is clearly a self righteous idiot. It's well know that the islanders defend their territory against all visitors. Also their lack of immunity to the rest of the worlds diseases means he could and in fact still can wipe them out with an epidemic. The arrogance he has demonstrated is impressive.

It's a darwin award if you ask me. :)

Its the disease risk that annoys me more than anything. Its cool if you love Jesus and all, but try doing that without risking the lives of other people.

+1. It was extremely irresponsible and self centered to risk killing so many of the already dwindling population just to get his opinions across.
