Anaconda updates

Yes, but it can look old and detailed. To me it just looks like an early asset which was made to much tighter hardware restrictions, as though it belongs to an older iteration of the game. It's mostly the interior that bothers me - there's noting wrong with the fundamental design (aesthetically speaking ;)). I've always liked the exterior underbelly, although I've never been keen of the thick segmentation lines on the top.

We can’t expect them to rework every ship in line with new standards, but the gulf just seems particularly wide with the Annie. It feels odd jumping from that into a Krait (or pretty much any other ship really).

Don't really have a problem with the way the Annie is modeled.

The "legacy" ships are re-imaginings of simple vector-graphic ships. That's their design philosophy.
I wasn't originally sure about the "next-gen" ships in ED; things like the DBX and Vulture seemed too detailed to fit-in with the older ships.
Now, though, I just feel like the different styles add to the diversity of ships that inhabit the ED universe.

For me though, it does not follow the previous designs close enough. The top sort of does, but the bottom looks like they forgot to add the outer hull.

I would also love it if the redesigned the lower hull at bit as well.

The blocky lower hull bugs me also, not only the Conda, but also the Viper 3. I seem to remember they were more sleek ships prior to the SRV, but a friend tells me the ship design didn't change to accommodate the new gameplay. I've searched around for old images of the ships but haven't been able to find them.

The lower hull could get an easy redesign by dropping the SRV from further up. It's fairly robust. There's no reason for the ship belly to be so close to the ground. As for retrieval, we already get sucked back into the ship as it is, a few more feet shouldn't matter.

I assumed that was a deliberate design choice - as if DeLacy built an "old-fashioned" ship and then tried to tart it up to give it more appeal.
Kind of like how car manufacturers, in the 1950s, were building pretty rough cars but then deliberately made them look fancy by sticking chrome and fins all over them.

The only thing "wrong" with the Annie, for me, is the landing-gear.
I guess it's possible that a ship might have multiple sets of landing gear but it doesn't really make any sense for them to be distributed all along the length of the ship.
Added to which, ED doesn't have "telescopic" landing gear so when an Annie lands on uneven terrain it can look a right mess if half the landing gear is either not touching the surface or is clipping through it.

I love the Anaconda, its my fav ship, love the design the damage model all of it. I got the Cutter recently and planned to make my Annie a combat only battleship but like you; i find the Cutter boring. It feels like i'm driving a futuristic console not at the helm of a ship. When i do FFOFF spins around the coriolis stations i end up doing a second journey just drifting, its boring and frustrating (but one hell of a good hauler).

Fact is; if you are looking for a replacement to the T9 you cant beat the Cutter, can carry almost as much and is quite frankly unkillable in PVE.

That said, my T9 was squishier than a mouldy pear, but i never had an issue because beating the interdictions in this game is so easy i never had to engage anything.

Anaconda is dripping with character imho, fav ship by far :). I would not complain about the same looking being update though.

Many ships need to be re-done. I just climbed out of the mamba into an orca. One has a bridge pretty much ready for spacelegs, the other is basically just an empty white room/placeholder. I hope next year we'll get an update, including giving variants an actual bridge instead of the copy&paste ones such as with the Vipers. Keep the mk3 old/used as it is now, and make the mk4 brand new and shiny, for example.

Why does every ship have to look like some maximum difficulty 3D puzzle?

I think it’s the only ship with persistent damage states. I’d hate to lose that.

Tbh Elite is hitting the stage where this should really be a thing on every ship. I'm well aware that development isn't an instant process, but the whole "fix the basics" season has focused way too much on overcomplicating a couple of basic aspects of the game and is still leaving pretty sizeable holes in fundamental qualities.

"Sizeable holes" in a comment about ships not having holes when damaged! I SEE WHAT YOU DID! :D

If a speedboat ever had a drunken one night fling with a Maersk shipping container, it would be the Anaconda. Bash my balls for saying it, but I like the slabs of the old school ships because they look like a previous generation of designs. Ugly, polygonal and fussy just makes me think of stuff like this:

Personally I love the blocky lower half and find the top a bit bland. Overall though, a good reimagining of the original vector version.

Indeed! First time I launched in a 'conda I felt like I was piloting the illegitimate offspring of a Hauler and a skyscraper. One of those forgettable 80s office towers at that.

But then first time I dropped out under it in an SRV I looked up and just about forgot what I was there for. It looks great, and the SRV perspective really helps convey that sense of scale that's often missing in this game. I actually felt like I was driving underneath a gargantuan starship!

That design has been is use for nearly 450 years...

I never get this response. Nothing is ever updated, changed, or modified over those years?
Guess the best RL example is the B-52. She sure ain’t flying with the same avionics as when she rolled out.
So a yes on a cockpit...modernization.

Last I heard the B 52 is likely to remain in service until 2044
