If you are a hardcore explorer like me you may be wondering how the new scanner will replace the old, if that's the case read on..
Firstly, I need to point out that the Discovery Scanner will become part of the ship and every ship gets an advanced one.
If you have a detailed surface scanner installed already then this is what will happen.
It will be replaced with the NEW scanner which allows you to launch probes
It will use Zero Power
I don't believe it has any mass either
Hmm ok so far but what happens if your scanner is engineered?
Well the good news is that you will receive an equivalent amount of engineering on the new scanner.
Whats the effect?
Well you will get a % increase in the size of the probe scan area, up to a maximum of 30% - So it should take less probes to map a planet.
So if you are out in the black already, no need to rush home. You can expect to see a reduction in power usage and weight too!
Hope you found this useful
