Not to sound ungrateful, but no love for LEP?

For clarity black Friday paint jobs were a reward for Horizons pre order not for LEP. Just all those that purchased LEP at that time were considered as having pre ordered horizons and thus received the reward also.
Yep, I alluded to that in my full comment earlier in this thread:
The first LEP reward was beta access to all 1.x updates. Next it was Horizons and beta access to all 2.x updates. We also got 29x Black Friday paintjobs (all that were available at that time), and a Gold Asp Explorer paintjob too.

Each of the above "rewards" had to be paid for separately, or as part of another purchase-reward, if a CMDR didn't own the LEP.

All LEP rewards so far have been purchasable by non-LEP CMDRs, and FDev have said that we LEP owners will not receive exclusive rewards.

I didn't change the funding model, I was happy with it, was FD who changed it. In hind-site I see that I should not of trusted their plans, if they hadn't changed the deal I would not be advising people not to trust them, don't see that as 'foruming' myself but have it your own way.

This has been my favourite moment in the thread so far...

Advises everyone that they should avoid payment in advance.

Unhappy that FD are moving away from payment in advance.

Peak foruming! [haha][haha]

I think he means a "free upgrades but earn money through microtransactions" model.

I don't even know what that is, you mean the non-Horizons betas? If so what is the point of that, 1.x being a subset of 2.x.
1.0 to 1.4 launched (Dec 2014 through to Oct 2015) before Horizons launched (Dec 2015). So having beta access to those updates allowed those CMDRs to, oddly enough, take part in those betas. Owning an LEP granted that access, Horizons Beta did not.

1.5 to 1.9 released simultaneously with Horizons' respective updates 2.0 to 2.4. They contained features accessible to basegame-only CMDRs and needed testing too. Owning an LEP granted that access, Horizons Beta did not.

1.x Beta access was also granted to backers of Elite Dangerous Open Beta.

Gotcha, the early LEP purchases.

From what I can see the early LEP (LEP iteration 2) was "Premium Beta".

Between £30 and £50 during Kickstarter and early development, depending on backing tier.

£120 if purchased in August 2015, when the LEP was temporarily available for purchase again.

For clarity, LEP rewards so far:

30 to 50? Sheesh that's nothing considering the ruckus.

Fair enough on the first point.

And given a pretty reasonable response to my mockingly toned post, I will self-moderate it.

Sorry about that (but I hope that you see what I meant in terms of how it read when going through the thread).

Probably because LEP owners would complain if the first LEP reward was just free skins that could also be purchased by non-LEP owners.

Perhaps because LEP owners did not buy the LEP to get skins. Who cares about a few skins. I know I don't.

We bought the LEP to get true fundamental expansion packs for no extra pay, like walking around, access to atmospheric planets and gas giants and whatever else FDev might release as paid content in the future.

They have not delivered, and we do not know when something is coming.

Yes they have, and we know more premium content is coming.

We have some vague assurance from a company who failed to deliver on their last assurance. (and many assurances before that)

They've delivered so far and we are still getting some top quality free content in beyond, which hasn't finished yet.

I know you can't help yourself, but at this point there's no reason anyone would take Frontier on their word.

I've no reason to doubt their word as I bought what they were actually selling not some imaginary space pony. Research first purchase second.

I don't think Frontier do it intentionally, I don't think it's malicious, I just think Frontier repeatedly sign themselves up for things they are unable to deliver.

Plans change, its really not a big deal at all. There was also a specific warning to expect that during ED's kickstarter and as part of the kickstarter site itself for the people who didn't understand that already.

When life doesn't give you lemons, you make your own lemons apparently? FDev have absolutely delivered on the LEP and continues to do so. Since I purchased LEP there have been constant new updates, I have received them all at no additional cost, exactly as promised, and will continue to do so if there are future updates. That's what the LEP was and has always been. If you thought you were buying something else, that's on you. Don't try to shift your failure onto FDev.

Fair enough and peace brother. I have had my say and will await a response from FD on the promised compensation this year, or not as the case may be.

This is like saying you bought something at a shop at 3-4 times the RRP, and you feel the company did right by you because they delivered a product.

Sure if you're that short-sighted on it, I'm sure you think you did well out of the deal.

(For reference I bought LEP at Horizons time, if you paid £30-£50 you are one of the lucky few)

Not only did we not purchase the LEP for skins etc but the original adverts for Lifetime Expansion Pass explicitly stated that the LEP would NOT contain cosmetics from the store or ships.

That wasn't a very good move, LEP's are best bought early.

It did by proxy of Horizons.

To be honest I think at this point it's about trying to deliver some sort of value, Frontier are just not going to be able to magic up atmospheric landings out of thin air.

I agree. Despite being a Kickstarter backer I stupidly didn't buy my LEP during early development, so bought it during the Aug 2015 resale (for £93 thanks to sneaky currency conversion, instead of £120).

Do you resent the year of free content ?.
