I assume you have insider knowledge that after this update there will be no further updates to Elite Dangerous and we are now on the wind down to the shutdown of the servers? That's a shame I enjoy this game as well...

I prefer to think this game has more to offer and there will be further expansions, paid or otherwise, I completely fail to see what your problem is....

Yes, we are aware that FDEV is not charging anything extra for Beyond. Thank you for that. But the way they are saying it / phrasing it, is like they're doing their customers such a grand favor by providing a series of updates which should have been features included at launch to begin with.

If they wouldn't have mucked about for years with CQC, RNGineers and multipew we probably wouldn't have had this conversation to begin with.

Agree, its free because its a basic core mechanic implementation. Before Beyond we didn't have mining or exploration.

Oh hey i paid 162,50€ for the LEP in beleave there will be more paid expansions. At that time i got the Hozizons expansion worth 50€ i beleave for free and a few paintjobs.
I also paid 50€ for the game back then and serveral more € for the same paintjobs you can still buy now.

Looking at store now the game and horizon with all updates is only 10€ each. The game itself was at store for only 8€ at one time.
For me ED is in a state that is pretty much boring, because i have nothing to do anymore. The new free updates did not really deliver much diversity and actually the latest i dont really like at all or im just dissapointed.

I got a few new ships in my collection but thats it basicly. Thargoids are kinda cool but need to outfit different weapons to fight them, something you didnt need to do in the original Elite.
Guardian stuff is, well good for a few outfitting options but thats it. Gathering that stuff is not really much fun. A few times sure but later its only anoying.
There is still no fun multiplayer action, that makes multiplayer worthwhile. I like multiplayer bounty hunting but it cuts my profits.

Basicly i dont play ED much anymore, maybe once every 2 weeks. Thats kinda sad, cause i really love the look and feel, but i get bored very quickly. The new scanner gets me anoyed quickly now too.

So for me the LEP was a waste of money, cause i dont see me playing much more in the future.
Next year end of march i own this game for 4 years and i played it a lot the 1st 3 years.

Should have bought the Horizons Expansion only back then, but i thought there will be a paid expansion every year and if so the LEP would have payed out next year.

At this state i dont think the LEP will ever pay out. The next paid expansion ( if there comes one at all ) will have Horizons included of course and i dont think people will pay 50€ for the next one.

I i guess a new one would go for 30 or 40€.
To have ppl buy that Frontier has to add landable atmosphere Planets with a lot content, otherwise i dont see ppl would buy that at all at that price.
If the price is even lower then 30€, the time to have a wothwhile LEP will even be longer and might take serveral more years.

So what will Frontier offer end of the year maybe ? Some paintjobs or bubbleheads ? I could care less about.
Some Game maybe Jurassic World ? You could have gotten it on black friday sale for around 20€.

Yeah so i think LEP owners will have a hard time to get the investment back.

Guess you've never eaten in a mess hall? Wasn't Army though - Air Force, and no, I'm not in a war zone, but the lesson is still the same, the rationale behind it is still the same.

Make the group take responsibility for their members. The whole group is better for it.

I never said it wasn't a good thing, but the 'it's free' bit is needless. It SHOULD be free. It isn't an expansion. It's bringing core gameplay up to a standard that it should have been at release. Need I remind you this game is 4 years old and basic gameplay is still being addressed. It's good they're finally doing it, bad that it's taken anywhere near this long.

I'm just trying to picture all the LEP owners in a barracks and one of them complaining about the value all the time, and all the rest of them beating him with socks filled with soap while hes sleeping so they can self police because of their military experience. Haha I love this place, If I wasn't at work it would be meme time.

I'm a Premium Beta Backer. I'm basically OK with how ED has developed over the last 4-5 years. Perhaps just a little bit disappointed with how develoment seems to have kinda stalled a bit over the last 2 years, but otherwise OK with it all.

2019 might be interesting as there's supposed to be new DLC. Time will tell.

Do I think my opinion is more important than anyone else's? Nah.

The fact that this thread has degenerated into an argument about the definition of free instead of pointing out where the rip-off occurred I think settles the argument.

I found it an entertaining bout where everyone mis-understood in novel ways but in the end Jukelo spoiled my fun by nailing it.

My Cobra MkIV miner "Minor" is Black Friday black, as it should be (hidden from view). I think it's ironic that the meta for 3.3 mining will favour the CIV, makes me wonder if it's intentionally gimped design is another thing the designers of 3.3 forgot to consider. Could be a stealth pay to win buff for the early adopters of course, we can't rule that out ;)
