Not to sound ungrateful, but no love for LEP?

That LEP owners lost on the deal is entirely in Frontier's hands though, it's not like it's some accident of fate or something.
Really. I didn't know the game had come to the end of it's lifetime yet.

There's a million and one ways they could attempt to make good on the deal, but the whole thing has just been forgotten about, and that's what's most galling.
I think there is only one way and that is to release more expansions that people have to pay for (apart from LEP owners), which I think one is coming out next year.

You have to fight for literally any update or progress on the matter.
I am assuming that is exluding the information we have from FDev in the last 6 months to a year.

I'm a LEPer and have never complained.

I am painfully aware of the poor optics of asking for anything at this particular time, when the game's about to get the patch that finally removes most egregious placeholders and "indie design" remnants. I'd rather we weren't discussing this now.

I think if I'd paid £320 I would already have got my money's worth, even if a lot of my game time was repetition, artificial travel time and busy work.

I do remember Frontier saying us lepers would get premium content at the end of this year, then that we would not. Instead we would get some cosmetics. I still think we'll get that but communication is really overdue now.

Without communication, it really does look as though people who did not have faith in Frontier and Elite are being given the exact same goodies as those that did. And someone that paid £30 the same goodies as someone that paid £120. Anyone trying to re-frame all this as "lepers are angry that others are not being made to pay for stuff" should quickly send their resume to one of the murky social media propaganda firms that provides alternative facts to reshape political views all over the world.

They are currently in production of the next major expansion which LEP owners will get for free.

Following your arguement the Windows deal is done as well because I refuse to buy a graphics card.

Not really, even without the graphics card you can carry on playing the game on Windows. Once chapter 4 goes live, there is nothing I can do to carry on playing the game on macOS. Therefore, the deal is done.

No, I can't play the game without owning a graphics card. You are right that the deal is over for macOS, but it's not over for macOS users.

It is over for macOS users, because to continue to play the game they have to become Windows users, or PlayStation users or X Box users. For macOS users the deal is done.

Unless it's changed, delayed, cancelled. I've learnt it doesn't count until it's delivered with Frontier.

This is true.

As I said earlier in this thread I don't think it's malicious, I just think Frontier all too often make assurances that (for many reasons) they are unable to follow through on.

That's the thing with software development (and basically everything else as well), plans sometimes change.

As I said in the previous post, Frontier could easily deliver value on the LEP, it's just much easier to pretend it doesn't exist.

Again I don't think it's specifically malicious or anything, it's just how Frontier are when delivering on assurances in return for money. Once the money's been taken it's "job done", the rest then goes on the backburner to be ignored for other more important things.

Well we we supposed to have fleet carriers and ice planets now. Again, I'm not complaining in any way, but - implied in the £120 purchase nearly 3 years ago were annual (or thereabouts) major paid updates, this was never expressly worded as such but if they'd implied that the next update would be 4 years (maybe 5 if delays occur again) after buying the LEP, nobody in their right mind would have touched it. I think given this change of course, it would be nice if they communicated when we could expect £10 of free ship skins or whatever. Then I think 90% of lepers wouldn't feel ... 'screwed' and ignored and we would have fewer threads like these (I for one wouldn't even view it, let alone comment).

They don't pretend it doesn't exist. You are the one who pretends their communication on it doesn't exist.

It's kind of silly to demand more communication when you can't accept that the stuff communicated might change.

So, see my Espresso example above. That's not a free Espresso either?

No because the restaurant have already factored the cost to them of the espresso into the price they have charged you for the meal. Then they give it to you at the end of the meal without a separate charge on the bill so it looks like they're doing you a favour.

What about free shipping? When I buy something and don't need to pay for shipping it isn't free either? Why is it called free shipping?

No because the company have already factored the cost of shipping at their lowest rate into the price they charged you for the item. Then they call it 'free shipping' to make it look like they're doing you a favour.

Not making any wider point here or getting into the interminable LEP fair/unfair debate (I don't have an LEP, I would have bought one if they'd been on sale when I got the game, I don't have a dog in this fight) but the above are the absolute basics of retail 'offers'.

They don't pretend it doesn't exist. You are the one who pretends their communication on it doesn't exist.

You have to literally fight on the forums just to get an update.

Frontier never ever come forward and provide an update "because it's the right thing to do".

All communications proudly state how "it's all free", with absolutely no nod or thought to people who paid upfront.

Assurances were made that it would be delivered 2018, after having to ask over and over for an update towards the end of 2018 it turns out they were never working on it.

It's kind of silly to demand more communication when you can't accept that the stuff communicated might change.

Indeed. In fact, I believe it's the primary reason they don't give as many updates as they used to. Around the time of the build up to Horizons, I seem to recall much more frequent update communications.
