Made for VR ? Is this a joke ? 48 hrs with all the gear and still no ED in VR

So i got a 1060 6b , a new rift. and a long standing ED account
I can't find a way to combine all 3.
Rift works good .
ED works good .

Searched and i need to select HMD in ED graphics . no such option.
Read again .. use Steam . Why ? i dont have ED in steam . rarely use steam

How do i get it to work ??
Please..

You are going to feel very silly.

Go to frontierstore.net and login. Go to My Account in the top right. Select My Orders. In the next area select Partner Keys. Use the Oculus key and open the Oculus app. Go to settings and redeem code. Enter the key from frontierstore.

You will now have Elite on your Rift at no additional cost, and able to open it through Oculus.

Hope that helps you. It was frustrated for me as well, but once paired it will work forever.

While you can indeed download ED from the Oculus store, there's no real need to do so, and ED should (and does) work fine with VR when started from the standard launcher.

Where are you looking for the HMD setting? It's under the 3D part in graphics settings, and you'll need to expand the + to see it.

When I started using a rift with ED, the Oculus software didn't have the game on its known or trusted list, so you may need to go into Oculus settings and allow third party games, or whatever it's called. Sorry I cannot be more specific, it's a long time since I had to do that, and it was a one off checkbox. I don't even know if it is still necessary. If you start the game and have the rift on and you get a notification that the game is taking a long time to start, this may be the issue.

So, just to confirm, you don't need steam, and neither do you need to run ED from Oculus home (not suggesting the poster above was incorrect in their post, just that it's not strictly necessary), you can run it straight from the Frontier downloaded launcher. I have been doing so for well over a year. :)

Sorry you're having these problems...

So, the HMD setting is in Controls > Graphics. It's next to the 3D option and you will need to open the drop down list to select the HMD option you want.

When I play ED, this is what I have running on my PC.

Oculus Home. This opens automatically when I boot the PC, and I simply minimize it as I don't use it, but it is running and I cannot test to see if the HMD option disappears as if I close it, it reopens. I don't doubt that Morgan Grimes is correct though. :)

(VoiceAttack and EDDI. These aren't necessary for VR, but VoiceAttack is very useful...)

ED Launcher.

Once I click play on the launcher, I can put my Rift on and I see the game start up in the Rift. There will also be a windowed version running on your monitor.

The setting in the Oculus software to allow ED from Frontier to run in the Rift is Settings > General > Unknown Sources. Just make sure that is on.

Keep in mind that there is an advantage of running the Oculus version directly from Oculus Home, and that's if you want Dash directly incorporated into the game (other launch methods don't integrate it directly and blank the screen if you press the 'O' button).

You need to allow 3rd party games to run in oculus. I don't have the software on my computer at the moment so can't tell where to find it.

You should be able to include ED into the oculus launch window too as it allows 3rd part apps now.

Yeah, if this setting is on you should be able to select the hmd in the non steam version.

Could also claim the partner key and re download the game through the oculus software.
