Forgot my AFMU and the FSD is giving me grief - Limping - any way to resolve?

So what's worst case if I keep boosting and FSD goes POP! will a reboot get things moving?

Worst case, you wind up at Raxxla.

I made a 27 jump trip on a 1% FSD with no canopy after a too-close encounter with a white dwarf, back when you could jump into a white dwarf system inside the exclusion zone, in a Beluga. Worst thing that happened was having to try six times in a row to actually jump, as the FSD would spin up and fart.

Ok well thanks you for the feedback, I'm gunna keep boosting, also have a backup plan...

The main issue with a faulty FSD is not the massive hassle of false starts, it is that eventually the FSD will start causing emergency drops, each drop will damage your ship. Your FSD will always function after a reboot, but at 1%, the highest failure rate. Don't envy you.

I learnt the hard way 3 years ago, and that was just 400LY with 50% integrity on the FSD (16LY range before engineering) never left the bubble without an AFMU since.

Just ignore it. It'll be fine ....

winterwalker enterprises takes no responsibility for any advice taken either resulting in or causing the meltdown of FSD and / or ship / scan / data

Good luck! o7

Great idea! That's exactly what we need, another limpet controller!!! :p

:D
One more reason for the universal limpet controller? What's not to like...
Or perhaps this one we should chalk up to the expanded NPC role thread?
Space-legs with repair gameplay?

Meanwhile, sympathies to the OP, this sounds not fun - sorry :( Goodluck!

Hold on a sec. Is it not possible for a healing beam to be fired at the ship by another commander to fix his damage?

I remember this was successfully tried with my ship during a previous beta during a pvp combat.

Fuel Rats, or someone else, may actually be able to help here, but I'm uncertain about the mechanism for achieving this.

Yes, but it won't be a full repair.

Also, reboot/repair without an AFMU cannibalizes integrity from the power plant.

No.

Regeneration and concordant sequence effects only apply to shields, not to hull or any modules.

Thanks all, I've got 30 jumps to go if I continue using ns BOOSTS i've had to drop out of SC a few times to kick the FSD as it would not fire up... I'll get there! = Lesson learned

if you try to supercharge your fsd there’s a small chance it can drop you out of sc into the cones, at least it used to happen not tested it since neutron introduction so may have changed

other than that you just get an inconvenience of the fsd fart

worse case email support over and over again and stamp your feet loudly - rumour is it works to great effect.

Just mention having afmu’s on board goes against your religion.

DO NOT continue to use neutron boosts with a failing FSD!!!!!!!

A failing FSD will occasionally drop you out of supercruise, and if this happens while you are supercharging your FSD in the neutron cone then you are a goner and you will lose the ship plus all of your data!!!!!

I definately would have used some online info to find the nearest asteroid base/outpost. Would probably be less jumps.

Look for a nearby asteroid base. There are quite a lot out there now.

This^^^

See how far you are from the line of stations that are strung out between the bubble and Colonia.

[edit]...unless you're way past it, of course. You did say "the fringe", which sounds... inconvenient!
