commander name approval

Ah nice, both my commander name and my NPC name got approved.
My commander name is just my first name, Jeroen
This is a fairly common name in the Netherlands, so I am glad it got approved.
(looks like I was the first)

Also, my NPC name got approved :
Arnold J. Rimmer
If you ever see a ship piloted by him, its your lucky day (if you like a challenge):
try if you can outsmart him, see who is the better strategist and space commander !

"There's a saying amongst the officers: If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well. If it's not worth doing, give it to Rimmer"

I'm naming a space station after my late Dad. That was the reason I pledged. So I'm delighted I got the name... in fact, there would have been serious repercussions if I hadn't... we're talking midnight drives down to Cambridge and banging on FD's office doors at 8am to find out the reason why. :D

John Irving Station. Purveyors of fine wines and chemistry sets.

That's a nice tribute. And i will raise a drink to your dad if i dock at the station :)

I'm so pleased that both my commander name and my NPC both got accepted!
I'm not suprised about my commander name (xzanfr) as it's a mis-spelling of a password in one of the old "write your own adventure" books that I dillegently typed in to my Electron. Typing in wrongly caused no end of trouble in the game so I kept it forever as my username on games (and later online).

Most of all I'm pleased abot my NPC name - Edwards & son.
My dad taught me how to play elite on a borrowed BBC B from his work (that was used to test out the flap boards at Heathrow airport but was allowed to be brought home my the section members at weekends). We spent hours and hours flying around with dad piloting and me making notes until I flew myself, and becoming "dangerous" in my own right.
I'm really pleased that the pair of us will be flying around in our ship forever - dad at the keyboard and me on the notepad! - If you see us, please say hello (or run away as we both ended up dangerous!!)

I can't wait to meet up with him - really. :D

Both of my names got approved, I used my real name for the NPC in the hope I run into myself while playing!

I chose to be Commander Dave Shannon, this being a mix of my middle name and grandparents surname. Trouble is I've just thought of two alternatives I could have chosen and either would have been better...

Chet Kinsman from Ben Bova's books or George Taylor from Ralph Peters' The War in 2020. Hey-ho, I can always try for those names another time.

What's the betting we're not limited to our chosen names (these are just reserved for us) but can also use other names if we want?

Hotblack Desiato denied :( Guess I'm not the only hitch hikers fan out there..

Cmdr Hotblack, I salute you for a name well chosen! (and so will my missiles :p)

Commander Zedd here......and if you meet my NPC Mr. Flibble , say hi ..:D

Good day commander Zedd, if I see Mr. Fibble I will say hi !
nice to see there are more Red Dwarf fans over here. Named my NPC : Arnold J. Rimmer

That is really awesome.
I am going to visit your space station and then drunkenly fly around as a tribute.
