Yes, I've noticed that. My own preference is for older British SF names. Anastasia (Dan Dare's ship),XL5 (fireball), The Fireman & Bucket (The pub that Sir Terry's city guard used to drink in before they used the "Mended Drum". Although I have called my 'Conda The Half Groat" for some reason (A fourpenny one, perhaps).Noticed a bunch of Culture Series references in a HazRes recently, NPC ship names like "Dra'azon", "Diziet Embless Sma", etc. I get a little giggle out of it. Does anyone else notice similar?

There are several ships named the Nostromo and Event Horizon too. Surprisingly I have not seen a single C-57D. I prefer Rock-n-Roll, my favorite Anaconda's name is Voodoo Child.
...Culture fans...
I have noticed references from almost everything scfi thing I've ever read or seen.
I still have to see a ship named Red Dwarf tho.
