I highly envy your view - VR I take it? This is what I'm looking for in 'space legs'. At the very least, I wish Frontier would unlock the camera so we 2D peasants could look up under our ships like this...

As for the lift, who wants to climb stairs when parked on a 5G world? LOL

EDIT - I just noticed your SRV tire. How are you "zooming in" on your front landing gear like this? Is it using camera mode inside SRV and zooming past your head? I'm going to have to do some experimenting in my Cobra (which has a similar front lift / stairway).

My assumption is that it's a consequence of the stilts-landing-gear SRV update. Steps or not, I too remember most ships having long loading ramps, but once those got pushed past 45degs*, it would have made sense to convert them to inclinators.

Kinda makes me wonder if FDEV really designs their ships with "all future gameplay in mind", seeing how the SRV has had such a big impact in the end.

*actually I'm reading the desired angle is somewhere around 35degs

I remember the Adder originally lowered an access bridge for personnel when landed.
I guess the SRV design was not finalised at the start of ED.

If you look closely, all ships have angled lifts now. And unless I'm going senile, they all used to have either stairs or escalators.

I just took this image of my Cobra:

It appears these are the old-fashioned stairs. Are the lifts something that's new in Q4 (seen in the beta)?

Yes it's in VR. In VR you can get up and gp around, you can also get off the SRV and walk around it if your room is big enough.
FD should definitely unlock the a free mode in the cockpit.

It has and always has been a mix of the two. Nothing's changed. Krait had a lift from Day One.

They could leave a small number of ships unchanged until the Legs Beta, just to provide plausible deniability.

Up close the lift texture is very low resolution and just awful. Such low quality textures don't belong in a game made in 2018. They have to update it for EVA.

I noticed that even on PS4 the "close up" textures seem to have been nerfed since the original launch version... :(

Probably means all ships that have stairs. I checked my Cutter and it does not have one. None on an Orca but reminds me of the Star Trek:TOS Galileo shuttlecraft door. I wonder if it will open in a cool way (someday).

Anyone considering redoing their transportation Elite Dangerous style?

Take a closer look at OP's screenshot. It has dumped down visuals, there is no AF at all nor a proper AA. Probably to keep FPS fluid in OP's VR set. It looks way better on my 32" monitor.

Manufactured & installed by Stannah especially for the Elite target demographic!

Oh no!...yet more rep bridges burned! [big grin]

You forget how enormous that thing is. I'd expect it to lower like a drawbridge, so the passengers can enter and leave like on a cruise ship.
