Guardian FSD Booster

But having a shield booster as utility mount and on the outside would be ok because it affects the Shields. Kinda like Cellphone Case help protect the Cellphone.

Let take a car. With a Motor (FSD) and Turbo (FSD booster). With a Turbo it required to be near the Motor so it gets either coolant or Oil to keep the turbo cool while using exhaust to power the turbo while forcing fresh air into the Engine. Which give Cars more power. You would not want this mechanic in the Trunk or on the outside, would you? While it would be better in the Engine bay with the motor.

For a small ship that a good build. What I would do is Drop the AFMU and add the FSD Booster if you want longer distance. Avoid doing stupid stuff. Avoid using Neutron superhighway and don't fly under the influence.

Let look at the cellphone case. It on the outside while the cellphone protected by the case. We can also look at bulletproof vests that protect the user from bullets.

Those analogies are god awful, man. Cellphone case could be analogous to added armour, but not shields which are hand wavium barriers. If anything you could argue that the boosters increase the signal in the way an antennae might, but the case for a case being a shield booster is just plain off. Bullet proof vest is also completely unrelated here. There’s Armor in the game already. Shields are something else entirely. Literally it’s another layer on top. That’s not what the boosters are. Anywho, carry on.

Yeah, that would be the trade off or maybe just not carrying a cargo rack at all. You can still gather materials with the SRV. Switching things around and moving the G FSD to the 5 slot bumps you up to just under a 54ly jump.

Another the idea is mine Minerals FSD Injection before taking an exploration trip. If I was you I would make it so you can do 50 Jump each.

25% extra jump range.
1 Carbon Very Common
1 Vanadium Common
1 Germanium Common

50% Extra Jump range
1 Carbon Very Common
1 Vanadium Common
1 Germanium Common
1 Cadmium Standard.
1 Niobium Standard

100% Extra Jump range

1 Carbon Very Common
1 Germanium Common
1 Arsenic Common
1 Niobium Standard
1 Yttrium Rare
1 Polonium Rare

You know I can take Mo Ronik current build without Guardian FSD Booster and do what they are asking for. Without Guardian FSD Booster and affecting there ship build. I could also fly 60ly. Depending on how many minerals I have. On my secondary account. I think I could do about 200 Jumps at 60ly. I might have 100 materials to do the 84 ly jump. All without the Guardian FSD Booster. But I earn that right to do it. I mined the Minerals to do it.

Hay Ozram you keep asking for an easy mode. Maybe what you need to do is use some good old common sense.

Please note Mining will change very soon. I can't wait :p

I do like that Asp Scout and maybe one day I'll pick one up. Still deciding on what exploration ship I wanna get.
Go for the Asp Explorer instead or Diamondback. The scouts aren't that great.

I do have a scout that I optimized for jump range, and it's my cheap taxi jumper between systems in the bubble. It's cheap to have transported to a location, and then I can get around quickly somewhere else, but for exploration, I wouldn't use it. Just my opinion.

Yeah that fuel scoop sorta digs at it for distance travel.

Not once asked for easy mode. Have I mentioned I play open Only? Since beta? Anyway, my only point is that the OPs suggestion is not all that outrageous. I’m fine with things as they are (something I already mentioned). Go ahead and keep making unfounded claims though.

Edit: I am also looking forward to the mining changes. Cobra4 is sitting in dock at Founders just waiting for the day.

It bothers me that the scouts aren't useful for scouting. They should be optimized to be useful for quickly get around and search for basecamps and whatnots during the expeditions, but pretty much any other ship can do better.

Make the Guardian FSD booster a utility mount instead of an internal slot. The shield booster is a utility mount with a letter size instead of a slot size so making the G FSD booster a utility mount with letter size would really help smaller long range exploration ships by not taking up a valuable internal slot.

I'm pretty sure the FSD booster is a bit bigger than the cellphone battery booster you seem to be confusing it with. I picture something like this in my Anaconda:

Let's just hope there are no "side effects" like there were in the movie this thing is based on.....

Excellent movie, that one.

Been playing since beta Open only. I understand ship limitations quite well.

There a reason why no one made a common about your two posts about bata gloating. Even players like me who been here Since Kickstarter and was part DDF forum as well as pre Alpha phase. IT not relevant to THIS topic. Really it doesn't make you sound like a big shot. But a child gloating about some outdated accomplishment that no way shape or form relevant to THIS topic.

Everyone has their views. But downing people views is outrageous. At least I pointing out ways a player like Mo Ronik can use his dream ship. With 50+ ly jump range without using the Guardian FSD Booster. Even pointed out ways he can do it twice the distance.

I was never impressed with the Cobra4. I think I use it in my Early mining.

Not sure why you’re throwing insults my way. Seems you can’t actually address my arguments. Time in play in Open is not so much about epeen as it is about my being in the know where it comes to having decent ships, loadouts and strategies. The other ramblings there seem a bit nonsequitor and as for the cobra 4? That’s fine you don’t like it. Pretty irrelevant but whatevs. Anything left to address?

This

a shield booster is at most 3.5 tonnes
the gurdian FSD boosters take up anywhere from 2-32 tonnes of space.
you arent going to mount a 32 tonne module on the outside of your ship.

Oh, I got a vision of a sidewinder with that 32T FSD booster mounted in a utility slot...

Sidewinder has 25T hull mass, and can carry max 12T as cargo, so we are looking at 32T utility mount to a 37T ship! that makes no sense....
