Learn to spell.

Learn to meme.

Anyway, I stand by what I say. Fixed weapons really aren't that hard to use.

Maybe if people played the game instead of posting here demanding crutches then it wouldn't be a problem.

In any case, turrets are availble.

" I used to use gimbal like you, then I improved my skills and avoided the arrow to the knee" :D

sorry, I did actually rely on gimbal for a while, but then after actually stepping out of my comfort zone and not being lazy I found fixed is the only way... once you go fixed you never go back :D

In relation to the Thargoids, I wouldn't mind gimballed AX multi's and perhaps seeker missiles (AX pack hound would be AMAZING!!!) the rest can remain the same, the only turret that works is the AX multi (set to target only) the other turrets won't fire unless you have multi crew, so they are effectively lemons and DO NOT BUY! :D

See highlight...
AS I discovered when I traded a cheap joystick for one of higher quality=greater precision.

Fixed weapons were impossible to use then and now I use them on every ship I own.

Cheap joystick for me = fixed no go. I can't imagine anyone using fixed weapons and a silly game controller <shudders>.

I am on ps4, started with the dual shock, then got a hotas. I then unlocked gauss cannons and practiced shooting scouts with them.
I am now a better player than i was.

Gauss guns? heck unlock plasma cannons.. load a corvette with those, team up with some like minded players and blow thargs away in 1 full charged shot.

Or unlock a guardian fighter just for fun... Hint with this one, when at the guardian structure... find all the power pillars first... then use the SRV to bring them all up at once so the base spawns all its skimmers in one go.
Scuttle back to your ship... then take off and plink at the skimmers until they go pop... then you can land again and power up the structure safely while collecting lots of bits.

But I want to know why the bugs are attacking worlds surrounding Sol and the core worlds of the federation and doing squat all in imperial space..... have the filthy imps done a deal and betrayed humanity.... [???]

Thargoids in the bubble seem to be chasing ships carrying Thargoid sensors. This implies they could be being actively (intentionally or maybe not) drawn in by humans.

I'd be looking at Fed megacorps before Imperials though. Entities like Sirius Corp are likely trying to do underground research on their tech, despite their knowledge that it's drawing the Thargoids in and costing millions of lives.

Or that human cost is a perk, or the point.

Sirius and other megacorps are it though, the Empire is too self-involved and enamoured of their own petty squabbles.

I'm sorry, I thought we were having a discussion about why no one cares that the bubble is burning.

When there is a goid CG that draws 1300 or fewer players (usually far less) out of the entire player base on a good week - it is clearly FDEV's plan to burn down its own game. (Which isn't necessarily a bad thing for the story.)

The human race just isn't gud enough to survive because our Ram Tah's couldn't figure out how to gimbal weapons, or make AX/Guardian weapons effective against human ships. We definitely deserve extinction.

Thargoid CG's? Those early Thargoid hunt CG's in the Pleiades where all we had was Aegis AX weapons? I vaguely remember another where we could bring Tharg Tissue Samples... where there any more?

The lie that Guardian weapons aren't effective against human ships really needs to stop being spread. It's entirely false.

While they are far more effective than AX weapons against human ships, and slightly more effective than stock weapons against human ships, they are entirely inadequate compared to engineered weapons against human ships.

Thus, being equipped with guardian weapons in a PvP encounter, or even a high end PvE encounter, is a handicap. A serious one in the case of PvP.

oooh yes, this is because the deal half damage to human vessels, so I guess the description is right, they are effective. then again if a BB gun chipped the paint I guess it could be effectively dealing damage also :D

So....
- I don't repair stations, because they're not stations I care about.
- I don't fight Thargoids, because they're not in systems I care about.

As soon as that changes, you'll see me there, and I don't really mind if it's "just me" repairing any stations I do care about, and fighting off Thargoids in systems I care about.

Personally, I'd be much more involved in Thargoid stuff if there were missions to collect tissue samples or hearts from the various Thargoid types, or scans, probes/links/sensors and the like.

UA interference already got switched off, so I'm not worried about FD letting it run rampant anyway.
Pretty much this. I know that somebody was behind the reason why Thargoids attack humans, Aegis or INRA or whatever they're called these days. I want more intrigue and discovery based events in this game, I've had it with "Shoot this to shoot that and get this to do more shooting" already.

But this is the thing. Granted I'm "filling the gaps" somewhat here, but there's been *so* *much* *missed* *narrative* *gameplay* *opportunities*.

Let's just start with the obvious Wreaken Industries operating in Col 70, which is a sector known to be related to the Thargoids, and locked out from players.

Or the asteriod that exploded near the Pleiades unexpectedly.

Or the whole Canonn / Cone Sector stuff which could've been used a lot better to "preview" things to come.

Or the whole League of Reparation thing which was just a non-interactive story leading to a one-sided, vanilla Conflict CG.

Or how the Federal Capital Ship Overlook is stationed in HIP 22460, which also has a Thargoid Structure in that system, but is permit-locked entirely from players.

Or how Thargoid Sensor (Unknown Artefact) effects wrt Jacques claiming "They sing and then they come" which bears similarities to Halsey's ranting after her disappearance, which has essentially been retconned out of the game.

Or Halsey, full stop.

Or Polaris, full stop.

etc.

It really doesn't need to be much... but these things have been stale plot points for so. damn. long. If these things flared up and had interesting plot threads to follow from them, even if they just lead to half conclusions hinting at things later on, people might *actually* get interested in Thargoids.

Instead, all we've had is The Hunt, which would've been better if it had taken advantage of persistent NPCs akin to Engineers in a PvE environment, or the whole Salome thing, which was just an exercise in who can be besties with who.

Fingers crossed that the Codex will rectify all these obvious issues that need to be addressed since 2.4

I know I can look on Inara/EDSM/Cannon but would it really hurt that bad to make it doable in-game in some degree instead of having to rely on 3rd party websites? Right now I have like 10 tabs up, EDDI and EDMC and a whole slew of other crap running.

For what? "Blaze your own trail"?

Thanks Obama

I don't fight the Thargoids because all my weapons are currently useless and I am not in the mood to fit super extra special weapons only to face a Thargoid. >.<

"Entirely inadequate", sure.... /rollseyes

Depending on how you engineer, they're usually around a dozen or so percentage theoretical difference than a pure-dps engineered weapon. That's really not that bad.

How quickly people get lazy with their engineered stuff, and forget how to fly and imagine those crutches are essential. :/

Targons are absolutely safe if they are not provoked. So safe that they can be completely ignored. And there are a lot of stations in the bubble, everything will not be captured.

Did some scout fighting for a while, using a krait with ax turrets. Easy, but got tired of returning to a station due to caustic damage every now and then. Also I didn't find it that interesting, blindly shooting at an alien race without any other communication or info about them.

I think for many players, they are a bit too complicated, or a bit difficult. To fight them, you have to spend hours on YouTube and websites getting info, and learn very specific fighting techniques. And you still get your a$# kicked. So many don't care. They are endgame multiplayer stuff, and many players play solo and just want to chill and triumph :) , not face overwhelming odds. Or just not into heavy combat. I wish there was some more interaction with them, like exploring, spying, whatever..

The only alien related things I DID get to do, is the guardian fsd and shield booster, so that speaks about the motivation thing..
