No Small Seismic Charges, Death of the Type miner

Lol'ed hard on that drag race, thanks :) I was positively waiting for a video like that as soon as I hit the "Post Reply" button. There's always a man that does what needs to be done when some other says "you can't..."

yes and however stupid and incompetent a sidewinder is at combat or a t6 is at mining... just give us the CHOICE to make ourselves instead of blocking it behind hand wavium nonsense.

We Could go mining in a t6 if frontier bothered to draw/render the weapons

You are relentless, aren'tcha?

The Fdev IS giving you a choice - you can go mining in a T6 or a Sidewinder if you want. You just have to compromise. That's what choice means.
If every ship in game was equally good at everything, THEN you wouldn't have choice. ...except the choice of flying different-shaped boxes.

Don't discount the Asp E as a miner either, I have set one up (pre 3.3) and it seems to excel at the task.

Yes because it makes sense ;)

even with C1 seismic charges in the game the t6 would be inferior to other ships it’s not about making it good at everything it’s about giving CMDRs choice

compromise yes... blocking access to content behind lazy development- NO

theyre not giving me a choice they’re forcing me into ships I don’t want to fly

Maybe a Size 1 Seismic Charge was deemed to small to successfully break open an asteroid, hence why the smallest available are only Size 2.

The T6 was always my go to miner, when I had the urge to do so. It still will be, but (and it's a big but) the lack of a C1 seismic means that there's very little additional appeal to mining.

They could do smalls with less ammo, applying the same logic as they do for missile racks. Smaller = less of, and not less powerful.

Personally I'd go for large/huge mining lasers before small mining tools.

If you enjoy ice rings you are really going to love motherlode hunting out there, wont spoil it for you, but it is very cool after you have blown up the asteroids ;-) Ice rings are now going to be my main area of operations.

Indeed, sir. I'm not sure how many tried it, but it was worth it.

Also has anyone tested what kind of damage a close range seismic blast does to a smaller ship? Ran a test on the T-10 (highest hull hardness in game, and engineered military) close range blast took 8% hull.

An exploding asteroid does enough damage to one shot my Guardian SLF if I have it out at the time. This is probably not useful information, but it sure is funny.

smaller ammo, less yield per asteroid its all fine, that's just a matter of balancing it - im not asking for the same power M shoehorned into a S slot.

Large should exist too yes, but that doesn't prevent ships from mining like lack of small ones does.

True to life in general. If you want to make serious credits then you'll need a huge mobile mining factory. Using the type 6 or any small ship is like paning for gold by hand. You may get immense satisfaction but you won't get rich. Even if you do get lucky, someone with a bigger operation will turn up and take it from you lol. So you need to invest more finances into your business and move on with the times, or choose to moan n groan and get left behind in the dark ages.

except you cant pan for gold because your not allowed a pan via FDevs rules... exactly my point.

Even with Seismic charges the T6 would be inferior to a krait / python / T9 whatever, its simple maths and size of slots and cargo holds.
