We learned previously (albeit recently) that vBulletin has some "issues" when you all get going with that F5-monster-mash... and us having a lot of features kicked on. It goes without noting that year over year, these forums have continued to grow in community size. [up]


As such, the following features are temporarily disabled on the forums:
- Thread subscription checking.
- All "who's online" segments at the bottom of the forums: Index, Forum, Thread (Global).
- All "who's read this" segments at the bottom of the forums: Thread (Global).
- Thread Tagging.
- Hot Threads: View & Reply Count.
- Multi Quote Reply Button.

The following features are slightly more restricted/limited:
- Search, Thread Search, PM Search: Result count limited.
- WYSIWYG editor: Limited to BBCode only on Quick Reply and Quick Editing.
- Max posts per thread limited to 25.
- Posting/Editing 'auto saving' - 3 minutes, was 1 minute.
- Caching kicked up to 11.


Once the high user load subsides, we'll turn things down and get everything back to a normal feature set. [cool]

I missed a few things as well and checked if it was something known.

On the other hand, keeping the features on and having four forum crashes an hour could prevent posts altogether. Which, I think, might be even preferrable. :D

I used to hang around on a Doctor Who forum which had a thread entitled "My opinion is so important that it deserves a thread of it's own" and all the appropriately self-indulgent stuff got moved there. :p

That's half the trouble with forums, though.
There might already be a dozen threads about why the FSS sucks or why the Mamba is too toastie but everybody thinks their opinion of the same topic deserves a thread of it's own.
