As I understand it existing discovery data is not affected by the upgrade. When the servers get back up and running you'll be where you were before and can still cash in your discoveries once you return to civilisation. I certainly hope so as I have quite a lot pending myself. There was a short period before the upgrade when missions had to be completed and new ones should not be started but that doesn't include discoveries. Ship equipment is going to be affected because we'll all get the new discovery scanner with a new mechanic that doesn't require that every body be visited in order to register it as "discovered". I've not tried this myself yet but most people seem to like it. At the same time if you DO visit a body you'll be able to map it looking for geological sites with new probes that will be on your ship automatically. The mapping will give a new kind of exploration credit. I've not played this in Beta but I've seen it described as a kind of cosmic pool game. Sounds like fun.
It's out...wonderful...oh wait, we can't play the game it all now. Excellent update. The universe has ended...thank you for playing. Glad there is no problem getting to the Frontier store though.
Greetings Commanders,
Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter Four is now out on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!
You see, Frontier. This is why you start the upgrade at midnight of the release day, so that most of these bugs are worked out BEFORE people will generally be playing for the most part. You don't start it such that the bugs are being worked out right when the majority of people will wanna start playing it, namely in the evening after work. That's just common sense...
So, I took a break from ED for a few months after getting to Sag A. Last week I started the looooong journey back and really have not been paying any attention to the update. So, am I screwed? What is going to happen to all of the discovery data I have? What about how my ship is equipped?
