game looks beige and this is a major disapointement

honestly I really don't know which version I am playing other than the one fdev forced on me. Color shift just completely removed the vibrant colors inside stations and its like the comparison between cities skylines(tries to look nice vanilla but really doesnt) vs simcity 5(looks great compared to cities skylines without the needs for mods)... I also tried to reduce gamma and it helped a little but colors are still alot less vibrant and now I have to deal with super dark shadows. Like why the did they not include a graphical option since profiler doesnt seem to work -__-

Edit: I completely agree with you and it looks like russians have taken the lead in graphical design... next thing we know is that the whole game looks brown and but vodka will help us forget how ugly the galaxy looks!

I wouldn't call it 'beige' on my setups, but on both GTX 970 system and 2070 gaming rig - I have kinda a washed out, high gamma look - even though I've tweaked gamma down (to the point where looking at mission screens are pretty dark, harsh black - yet the gal map, stations, etc all still seem washed out)

Since some ppl are saying it's fine or better than pre-update, either this is a subjective eye of the beholder painting thing, or system / card / driver combo. Whatever it is though, it's couple steps backwards from my pov only.

Add the horrible (to me only) FSS controls, features, etc...pretty much a step backward update - which I pre-emptively concede may be awesome for some. Just my own personal .02 cents.

Arma 3 is starting to look more colourful than elite. I think this should sum it up pretty well.

the real issue isnt the fact that it doesnt look bad to some, its the fact that you can't change it if you don't like it! We should have an option to change the color hue without the desperate need of a graphical 3rd party tool

the issue isnt the actual look, again, its the lack of options as to how it may look. Why would it be better to just not have freedom over what you want!?! Imagine if volume loudness wasn't changeable and they just decided to force the loudness onto players. Same thing goes for graphical options, it should be there and it isn't.

a simple color saturation slider would suffice and other options would also be really appreciated. Everybody would benefit from that and saying nothing in regards of positive change results in the product we paid for not getting better.

Partially subjective but, you build a GUI and the colours will look different on every monitor.

I play with a Rift, so it's probably more dominant. I write GLSL shaders as part of my work, including colour grading filters. To me it looks like the work of someone who’s discovered them for the first time and over-egged it – but as I say, it’s largely a matter of taste. Many of us asked to have the option to disable it during the Beta, which would have kept everyone happy.

I play on a PC. Atm I am not in a station. But here is an example how it looks on my screen.

It was a little dull at first. I just turned the gamma down and now it is OK.

One thing I've found out in the past was that when I used an HDMI connection to my 1070 I had some dull colors. That was because the HDMI had/has by default a lower dynamic range, at least on my nVIDIA. I changed it in my nVIDIA control panel. Display->Change Resolution->Output dynamic range to Full. The change was quite dramatic. I don't know your setup, could it be something like that?

Exactly, I don't see why people saying it doesnt need to be added when they arent the ones that have a problem with it have the right to disregard such an issue for others. Its honestly a no brainer to add such an option after dramatic changes like that especially considering I never asked for those "superior" graphics.

I have all my color sliders on my monitors maxed out and they look way more colorful before. I don't see how the new build is more colorful and how going from green color lighting inside an agriculture starport to light blue color lighting isnt a dramatic color saturation change. Reducing gamma also causes other issues and it still is way too colorless to compared to the previous build. Really hope they didnt up the bright red refinery starport or the high tech station interiors making them as bright as the old station interiors...

note that I have the exact same gamma setting.

Yes, it's not so much an issue with saturation as the effect of applying a tint over existing colours - it influences certain colours and their vibrancy in unnatural looking ways.

Thanks Steyla, I'll try playing around with the gamma. For me, the clearest example of it influencing the HUD in unpleasant ways is near yellow stars - it makes everything look very muted for me. During the Beta people also objected to the fact that it tints the skybox as a whole, which isn't consistent with reality. Unfortunately, that's unavoidable with these techniques.
