these issues may just have bitten me hard. i landed my ship near an ancient ruin. deploy scarab = scarab is NOT deployed under my ship but several maters away and UNDERGROUND. looks like im going to have to log into Elite Dagerous and hope it picks me up and puts me in orbit. because the last station i stopped at is gagarin gate and thats about 6000 ly FURTHER away from the bubble than where i am... only the game cant connect to the server

Chances are this is an Amazon issue, not Fdev. Elite isn't the only service having issues. Back in, btw.

Umm no. We use Amazon extensively (and I mean extensively). No issues at AWS in any of the regions of VPC's.

Given that Facebook started having issues with content time-outs at about the same time as the ED servers went belly-up (and the server failure seemed to get worse over a few minutes before total failure) it would suggest a possible DDoS against the Amazon cloud service.

Yes, mine too. I cancelled that and it let me in anyway and then kicked me out because it could not connect to the matchmaking server.

Oh great, so much for coming back after a exhausting week-long business trip to Asia, hoping, that FDev had enough time to sort out the launch problems.
Silly me, getting my hopes up.

Well, time to enjoy that other/new space game, which is patched several times a week, including beta phases for many/all the minor patches. And, it does not need the server connection to run being a single player game.
