Servers down AGAIN

Hi Morbad.

After reading your post I stopped watching Walking Dead and tried again. I actually managed to press on (not activate, just press on) Starport Services before the crash.

Didn't time it but in my head around 12 seconds. New personal best!

Cleared the game's GPU work tables and Nvidia's shader caches?

Running the game as an administrator?

Thanks for the assist - just tried running as an admin (didn't help, same crash). The other things are beyond my current boundaries of ignorance/idleness...

There is a file in the main game directory called "GPUWorkTable.xml". Delete it.

Then, find the directory "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache", which may be hidden, and delete everything inside it (a bunch of BIN and TOC files).

Start the game and let it regenerate the shader and compute caches.

If that doesn't help, you may be looking at an insufficiently sized page file (which you need, as it's part of the system's total commit charge and aids memory management, even if it's never actually filled with anything) or hardware instability.

I would like to apologise to Frontier and any interested forum users for causing confusion.

I have discovered that the cause of my game 'crashing' was in fact a change in the interrelation between the Oculus Rift app and ED.

Basically, exiting the Oculus app should only close ED if ED is running in VR. However, at some point (whether due to the 3.3 patch or a change at the Oculus end, or both, idk) exiting the Oculus app has started to force ED to quit even if ED is running in 2D.

Hence my own issue had nothing to do with server instability and was actually a force quit rather than a crash.

Sincere apologies once again.

P.S. Thank you to Morbad for the help. I most likely will not be back in game proper for another six months to one year but look forward to catching up with y'all again one day.

Nice.

When I first started playing chess, I used to feel bad about losing. Then I read a book about high enlightenment. Then I felt bad about winning! Then I discovered spritiual wisdom and if I lost but didn't feel bad about losing, then I felt bad! Finally I discovered Ultimate Truth. (What happened then??) I learned to develop my Pawns.

I didn't find any directory with the name NV_Cache in the NVIDIA Corporation folder, if it's hidden then how can I access it?

Why are people so upset when everything will be allright when half the player base decide to quit until better times.

Than the first half will be able to play normally.
