Thank You For Night Vision!!

Seriously ... I'm actually surprised at the lack of feedback about what I consider to be the best quality of life change in years. Night vision is a game changer. For landing on planets and stations. For navigating on planet surfaces as well as planetary rings. It's really really good.

Well done, Frontier!

Yeah, night-vision is awesome. headlights? We don' need no steenkin' headlights!

For asteroid fields, it is especially welcome. Using the old ship light in roid fields when flying around the dark side of the planets was tempting fate usually. It would come into view when you had little time left to get out of the way.

Indeed, it has given haz res sites a whole new life.

Heh, I no longer need to curse when I come upon a Haz RES and find it drifting into a planet's shadow.

Night vision rocks. Great work whomever design it!

EDIT: I can't help but wonder when night vision colors will show up in the store. Get your retro-80s hot magenta/teal/yellow night vision overlay to match your sneeze-glitter ira-shiny predator/barf-tastic paint job! :p

Love Nightvision addition to the game. I've been asking for that and other tools, and they are finally here. I have been on NVGs many of times and I love that they added the tiny detail of a version of the "honeycomb" that makes the inside of the tubes. Such detail is not missed on an experienced nightvision user... as such it does however make me wonder what the heck is the pulse that randomly pulses out through the surface...

Thank you for killing SR builds, removing skill aspects and the role of small ships. But as this seems to please the masses who cares about my oppinion or the degrading state of PvP over the last 4 years. Anyway I was lucky to have lived in the golden age of PvP, once upon a time in a galaxy far far away before engineers, night vision and crime updates.

Glad to see the blinders are falling away from so many folks!

Are you sure about this? I mean... Silent running is more about heat-mechanics rather than visibility.

Yup it's great.

I tested it tonight on a cold silent running DBS with 15c baseline heat. Efficient powerplant and clean drives, 2x mines 2x enforcers. This build was designed to be undetectable > 500m in PvP, when flown with f/a off, black friday skin and not agressing. Not anymore I can assure you. It is sad that FD seems to be pushing people into medium/big meta ships and neglecting the small ships by depriving them of a few means available to them to put up a fight. Low signature radius, low heat, f/a off to reduce exhaust contrails is all meaningless now thanks to x-ray vision.

To balance it now they should stop making emissive work as it does currently. One small pulse and you're lit up for a time without the range having any influence. Their should be an algorhythm in play that factors in the emissions of the silent runner, the temp and distance from the sensors of the ship firing the emissive, regardless of it being an emissive round or not. It should be as fully lit up at 3km's as it is at 750 meters.

I actually prefer no-night vision. Having a dark environment be dark is great to me... especially when I used to play WoW for years and in the old days their night-time, especially in forests... was REALLLLLY dark... but then after a couple expansions they changed the lighting and how night-time worked for whatever reason and "night time" became just a slightly less bright daytime, it was awful, no real darkness anywhere.... so when a game gives a truly dark lighting / feeling, it's great... the last thing I wanna do is brighten it up actually...
