Frontier can we please clean up Squadrons UI... bloody one commander squadrons

Loving Squadrons BUT the UI side of things is a bit cluttered. I do think the fact you can affiliate with a minor faction and get all sorts of information is a great step.

However...... "SINGLE COMMANDER SQUADRONS" just make navigating the squadron list an annoyance.

I want to be able to scroll through a list of squadrons and see ones with good player numbers for example and all I get is an endless list of one commander squadrons. Clearly players are making squadrons as a tester and not using them or intending too. How can you be a squadron with a single commander ha?

Can we get some sort of clean up or time out that if the squadron hasn't been used by posting a message or something after one week it drops off the list.

Secondly why can the public statement thing not be in the Squadron Management page. It took me 10-15 minutes to find where I needed to go in the beta to set this.

Look I hate moaning and love using squadrons but can we get a little clean up thanks.

Yeah, limiting squadrons to you only see populated ones would be a great idea. I wonder if they filter out Squads not accepting members - one of my alts has a 1-person squad just for BGS tracking, and as they aren't accepting members they don't need to show.

Though it's not obvious how to set a statement I'm always surprised how many squadrons I see don't have one - the information is now out there.

Could also have a filter to show X amount of members so we can not se those squads that is under the desired amount of members.

Isn't this a variation of the old catch 22?

You can't get a job without experience but you can't get experience without a job.

You can't have your squadron listed without x members, but no one can see your squadron to join it to get your members above x.

I was thinking that - but then a size slider fixes that issue.

The other question is: why are you starting a squadron if you can't even get together say 10 people to make it visible? Easy enough to come on here (or elsewhere), suggest a theme and then set up a squadron.

Not sure if people should be choosing a squadron based purely on the 255 character public statement - I guess we'll see ;)

Meh, it’s two board gaming buddies and an account for their cat. Either that or it’s the “Spacefaring Cetaceans” or whatever Indigo ended up calling it.

Yeah a filter would be good.

I warned people this would happen but I got shouted down as some mean Commander who was getting in the way of people making Squadrons.

Well, having the filters work properly would solve all these issues.

Really? Is there a "Filter by number of members" filter? Because I haven't seen it. Just stuff like "PvE, PvP", "Casual, Not so casual", "Supported Power" etc., but not "#Squadron Members"...

Are you more entitled to a squadron than me?

I have 5 accounts and 5 squadrons.

You're no more entitled than me. Get over yourself.

And how would you set your filter to show up say The Fuel Rats?

That’s the other unfortunate effect of framing the Player Groups using in-game tools. They kinda force what your group can be “for”.
Groups exist for reasons not within the scope of PvE / PvP and a timezone.

Paladin Consortium exists for one specific purpose. EIC might tick a few boxes, but that wouldn’t capture the nature of them.

And why shouldn't two mates and their cat have a Squadron?

Well I think forcing lone commanders to pay 10MCr to get information about states that used to be in the local news of any station where the faction was is a bit cheap. Does not even tell you pending as easily either.
Its going to cause a bunch of 1 man squadrons.

I don't think anyone wants to deny those two guys their right to create a squadron for just them and their feline friend, but if I don't want to see that squadron in the list of Squadrons because of their number of members, I should have the means to hide them when browsing available Squadrons.

Yeah. I thought it might have been me doing something wrong. but I can't get the filters to work at all.
There's only a 'back' and a 'clear filters' button. Back didn't actually filter anything.
How do you get it to apply the filters?

Oh, and to stay on topic, yes, there should also be a filter for squadron size (a working one ;))

That's fair enough. I'm not opposed to a filter, I'm opposed to people dumping on small groups.

And let's not forget even the biggest player group starts with but one member.

Where do we draw the line before it becomes "acceptable" for a Squadron to advertise?

No, but there's search by tags and search by name, unfortunately both do not work at all (at least on xbox they don't, haven't tried on PC yet).

Squadrons may well be merely "meh" for the large player factions, since they're already set up ad using tools that were available at the time, which this one wasn't. It may even be detrimental to them. But what it DOES do is make it possible for people to do what reddit channels and discord channels et al do, but this one in the game.

FIND PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO PLAY THE WAY YOU DO.

Set up a squadron, only you in it, set its goals and attributes to best display the way you want to play with people cooperatively or competitively (to another squadron) and then everyone can filter for THEIR preferred top-choice playstyle and join your squadron to play that way.

This is FAR better to start playing with other people than looking for a PG (not precise enough) or outside the game (third party apps at best are done as a side action, with also splitting the audience you can advertise to, but have to still include people who don't play ED at all).

Given the payment in credits for a squadron, it would be nice if you could cash it back in in the case you make your squadron but then find one "just as good" that already has a base of pilots signed up so you feel like signing up to their squadron instead of running yours, you can now melt the credits back for the now defunct squadron, surplus to requirements.

If you are new to ED and want to play cooperatively in a specific manner, make a squadron with the required features. Then go look for more squadrons. Or, if you are not wealthy enough in in game credits, just go look for squadrons.

If you join a squadron but find another "just as good", then everyone in that squadron may decide to move over to the other, larger, squadron, reducing splitting of the player group.

I think a couple of people have hit the nail on the head it needs filters.

I've no issue with one man squadrons and people using it as a way to find wing mates but there seem to be a lot of squadrons one man, no public statement, no play types or objects set which tells me they create a squadron for lols to see how it works and will just leave it be.
