Huh, really? At the top of the file it says "Unless otherwise indicated, this document describes the actual IFCS and flight physics functionality in the game as of 3.2."
... but yeah, that doesn't mean they didn't rip it out after he left, of course. :D

Reverse the verse from Aug 3rd 2018 is when Chris Roberts announced the IFCS 'refactor'

This is when Chris confirmed that the flight model existed in its own world, disconnected from the Cry physics layer.

This is when Chris confirmed that they were moving to rigidbody physics which is what every game ever uses.

This is when Chris confirmed the old system was too complex and the new system will be 'newbie friendly'.

That'll be 4 years of work on the flight model scrapped because no one apart from John and one other coder understood it, neither of them are still with the company.

It's not known whether they are actually doing this or are just tweaking the IFCS table. Edit- I don't think they will be replacing it because IFCS is literally the netcode

By the way - CIG didn't release that pdf of the IFCS design. John Pritchett released it when he left. He was an independent contractor working from home.

There will be no spectacular fail, Crobear will announce the closure of Clown Imperium Games with tearful words, and then sell of the assets and retire with all he coin the siphoned out off the backers pockets.
The only spectacular thing that will happen is the tremor registered on the Richter Scale when the bubble of the CDF bursts. Ofc, there will be buckets of "we told you so" and lulz.

I don't know what moves you to emphasize how much you do not regret spending money on a trainwreck: But whatever sails your boat, I don't care. Your money is gone, mine is not, while I play Star Citizen for free. Also I'm pretty convinced, that the temporary free to play option will become permanent at some point. Star Citizen's pay to win monetization model won't work otherwise.

In its current state Star Citizen is not worth a single penny. For $60 I expect Rockstar-quality releases, not janky Crysis mods.

Yeah well he said that he backed back in 2012 to the tune of 60...I assume he understands his pledge is a high risk investment, not a purchase. Several other people in this thread have not withdrawn their kickstarter pledge either.

60 bucks is hardly playing the high risk stock market, Fritz [haha]

...Considering most folks will spend double that on a weekend having a few beers with friends. You don't get that 'investment' in entertainment back either...except for some wholly subjective fun ;)

I was going to review the flight model and answer questions as requested, But due the horrible messages/PM's following my other posts. I will leave here. My privacy is more important to me as is being able to chat in reasonable atmosphere without feeling that people are looking to take these discussions out of this forum.

This bullying must stop. I intend to log out of my account and just read the ED specific forums as view only.

wasnt me...honest. Usually there is a reason why people use PMs but obviously that hide was a bit too thin to think about the "why" oh well.

I didnt mean "stock market" level. High risk in kickstarter project means that you have a good chance that despite the kickstarter making its goal you wont ever see a product at the end. Too many projects get canceled, die a slow death or morph into something completely different over time. Its a drastic difference to paying 60 bucks for a released game which you can research up front, make sure it hits "all the boxes" of yours and most importingly....you get something in return.

I'll echo what Asp said - grab a mod if things are getting personal, especially on PMs where there's no-one to back you up.

The thread does get a bit pointed at times - it's a divisive topic that some people take too seriously - but personal attacks are not allowed here: You should not be getting hounded off because you like something.[mad]

Whilst I don't agree on your choice of game or your version of 'fun'. Nobody should have to put up with this. Contact the mods.

There are settings you can choose for PM's. Check them out

As someone whos experienced similar multiple times (including ED related messages going to my other social media and work emails, as well as my wifes) Im sorry to hear this. Good news is people who send this kind of nonsense quickly lose interest and move onto the next mockrage target to fire their ire at.

To whichever snivelling coward sent them in the first instance, get a bloody grip of yourself.

Continue to post in here and share your opinion&experience with us,we can not allowed something like that to happened because of some crazy-individual in this forum,we need to VALUE freedom of speech and everybody rights to have his own and different opinion.....Otherwise we will become same as "Spectrum-echo-chamber"
