Newcomer / Intro Farseer Inc Assignining Occupied Pad

I can't land at Farseer Inc. Got a landing pad assigned, but another commander is sitting there. Logged out, logged back in. Tried again. Different pad, same thing.

Why is Farseer automated system assigning me an unavailable pad?

It happened to me last night too. Very confusing in the dark. I didn't even notice there was a ship under me, I just kept grinding into it.

Edit: I'm curious. What happens if I have a docking computer? Does it just smash me into the other ship?

You should raise this as a bug report over in the appropriate forum.

This is bug used to be common on space stations, never heard of it at an Engineers base.

IIRC the docking computer would try and land through the intruding ship, another reason not to leave it on its own as it has almost no flexibility.

Hah, yeah, a new update brings back some old bugs, I see.

Definitely report this and then log into Solo mode and you should dock without other players' interference.

Thanks. I saw someone else submitted a bug post a few days ago. I added to it.

I am curious. Normally what designates a pad as occupied?

- Obviously if it has been assigned already and someone is landing.
- Obviously if someone is sitting on the pad.
- If someone has entered the hanger but not entered starport services?
- Once you enter Starport services does the pad become available, bumping you to a different instance when you return to the hanger? (I notice the loading symbol suggesting something is happening)
- If you return to the hanger from starport services are you now occupying the pad, preventing someone from landing?

This happened to me at Hera Tani's place with an NPC. Had to keep cancelling and resubmitting the docking request until I got assigned to pad 1 instead of pad 6.

While you are in the hanger no matter what you are doing or not doing that pad is occupied, it is only freed up if you leave the station or the game so the last instance is also a no as you never stopped occupying that pad, the only exception is if you change ships then you might well end up on a different pad.

It is not necessarily a player blocking the pad though - I had it lately that a medium pad at a dock was occupied for over an hour, even after I relogged, this time into solo play - same thing, that pad kept being occupied and never stopped being lit up - even no one came into the area nor left it meanwhile. There was some NPC traffic on the small pads though, but the medium pad kept being occupied for a total of more than an hour, so I just gave up on it and abandoned the mission.

To Farseer - I had quite a few landings at her site during the last few days - using a docking computer - was always flawless.
