Dinosaurs refusing to eat or drink

I have found that ever since 1.6 all my Dinos from time to time just seem to stand there... and they slowly die from starvation and/or dehydration even if they are standing in water they don’t seem to understand that the water is there and it’s the same for food aswell, it’s very very annoying

I've had something similar happen before - tranq them and put them back in their pen, and they should go back to normal.

Hi Shadowear1991,

If your dinosaurs aren't eating or drinking and they are not stressed by anything, you may have encountered an issue. Please be sure to let our QA team know about this on the Bugs sub forum.

You can check if your dinosaurs are unhappy by just hovering the cursor over them, the infopanel will let you know if there is something wrong.

Thanks I have, just wanted to see if it was a common issue, it’s only begun since 1.6.1 it was fine in 1.6.0

Also can we sort out sauropods panicking when near small carnivores? It’s silly even for most medium carnivores to scare suropods especially dreadnaughtus It’s name means “fears nothing” apart from every carnivore in the game haha

Just to let OP knows that I may be experiencing a similar problem. I still need further observation before concluding anything.

Things worked fine before 1.6 (not 1.6.1). After 1.6, groups of Dino gets low health (30 to below 75) due to starving/thirstiness. It happens occasionally (around 15 mins). Upon brief observation, I find that they got panicked a lot (running around with “panicking” status). That happens on my all-herbivore enclosures as well.

Currently (more observation is needed as said), the unusual thing I found is they remain in the panic states unusually long after the jeep has left the enclosure, for restocking run. 10 seconds I would say (Judging by the distance of the jeep from the enclosure. I didn’t sit there all day long observing their life. I was playing challenge mode on Jurassic difficulty so I didn’t have the leverage).

One of my suspected theory is there might be something wrong in the coding (maybe related to herding) that makes the panic state ripples and spreads long after the threat is gone. I don’t know, TBH.

At the meantime, I will observe more carefully on my end and I hope you can let us know too, the details of your case. Perhaps, we need to go for bug report, as Steggs suggested.

I’ve bug reported it, but my issues didn’t start until 1.6.1 I completed Isla Pena on Jurassic without a single issue then started Isla Sorna no issues then 1.6.1 dropped and all my dinos are starving/ dehydrated and they have an abundance of food and water, it’s quite possible it was 1.6.0 that set it off however I didn’t notice it until 1.6.1 and it was frequently,

Hello everyone,

Is there any chance I can get a volunteer to provide a saved game with this issue happening so we can investigate it further? Or even an image with the layout of their park and dinosaur placements.

You can find your save files in your file directory in the following location:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Jurassic World Evolution\%STEAM ID NO%\Saves
where the %fields% are specific to your windows username and SteamID.
Please upload this to a file sharing site such as dropbox or googledrive and provide the download link.

Thank you.

Here you go Stuart! Thanks for working on the problem. =D

The problem is intermittent. It usually happens after a restocking run. The Dinos just keep panicking for an extended period of time – 15s to 30s sometimes, after the jeep left. Please only look at the herbivores-only enclosures at the east for trouble-shooting purposes.

It is common for Sauropods to starve/thirst as they are slow. Please look at the enclosure to the east of the innovation centers – with Brachisosaurus, Camarasaurus, and Mamenchisaurus - the all-herbivore enclosure.

For the Apatosaurus enclosure, it used to mix with an Allosaurus. Before 1.6, things were perfectly fine. I don’t need to medicate them at all. After 1.6, they panic like crazy and having group starvation/thirstiness almost all the time. Perhaps you can try putting one in to compare - 1.5 vs 1.6.

Let me know if you need anything else.
