Detailed stats from the Codex:

This is from being 88% Pioneer at the launch of 3.3.
I'm sure 1,500 hours to get an Elite rank is going to seem like a massive amount of time to a lot of people, but I've kind of done it the long way, and have largely discarded things like Passenger missions which make large contributions to Exploration rank, and I've stayed away from R2R and things like that. Plus a lot of the stuff I've done doesn't give exploration rank.
I must say though that the last 12% of the rank that I got in 3.3 was actually incredibly quick and easy, and was done primarily while just rushing a few klys to get to a particular system.
I've always had the view that being Elite ranked should have a bit more meaning than just numbers, and so although I don't particularly consider myself a great explorer compared to some, and I've not done any major expeditions, I thought I'd run through a few things I've done:
- I was an early Braintree discoverer, and to the best of my knowledge was first to find them on Icy Bodies. As far as I know that also makes me first to find surface life on Icy Bodies. (With thanks here to Cmdr Baton who made the relevant submission to the Galactic Mapping Project and came up with the name The Ice Garden )
- I've Supercruised into a Permit Locked Region (to no avail, obviously)
- I made it into Lave Belt Cluster 2 a while back, (and confirmed there was no Raxxla connection there
- I predicted the Thargoid - Guardian territorial crossover/connection a long time back (based on the relative positions of the various Guardian sites and the system referenced by the Thargoid Probes)
- I later demonstrated that territorial crossover/connection, by showing that the Braintree fields surrounding the main Guardian area terminate in the vicinity of the system referenced by the Thargoid Probes. Fuller info on the story on that front in this GMP POI
- I've explored a lot in and around the Col 70 permit locked region (and helped various cmdrs who've got stuck in there). That includes finding a lesser known 3rd way into the interior via a NS jump from Synuefe, and also via that:
- I found a hyperspace route which passes through the system referenced by the Thargoid Probes. (Unfortunately, all attempts at forcing a misjump and drop out into the Permit Locked system failed.)

- I did my share of the work in the early days of the Ram Tah mission, back when the Guardian sites didn't appear on scanners.
- I also found and shared a set of Secondary Neutron Stars for quick travel around the Guardian area.
- I did my share of eyeball searching planets in the hunt for the INRA bases.
Also, probably getting more towards the Mystery side of things than Exploration, but...
- I was first to put together a conclusive set of evidence that the crashed vessels in the Pleiades were the same as the Unknown Ships which had started hyperdicting cmdrs.
- I was one of the lead proponents of the hypothesis that it was Guardian descendants that Halsey had encountered. (which the Codex now appears to be semi-confirming).
- I put together the 'History' and 'Open areas of investigation' sections of what's now the Guardians sticky, and have done a fair amount of exploration and investigation of the listed areas myself, particularly things like the glyphs and their possible interpretations, and the Relic and what's inside it.
- I also put together quite a big piece on Soontill, Guardians, Thargoids and the possible interconnections (which I only really mention in case any of this is sparking anyone's interest!
There's various other bits of stuff, plus I've done quite a bit of stuff looking at pre-FSD exploration and travel, and possible tie ins with Region Locks and various other things. That's a big topic for other threads though.
Anyway, until recently I would have put this in one of the sub-forums, but as FD seem to be making efforts to make a lot of things more accessible and open them up to the wider playerbase, I thought I'd put this in DD instead. If anyone wants to know more about anything I've mentioned, then I'm happy to provide more info.
All the best, cmdrs. o7
