Anyone Else Losing Prospectors On First Firing Them?

Yep, but it happened pre 3.3 too. Useless limpets. I do find them a tad annoying at times.
No it didn't.

I've mined in pretty much every ship in the game, and never had a problem with prospectors hitting the ship and expiring. I always fire prospectors on the move, as it makes the act of prospecting much quicker, especially when using two prospectors at once. This is a new thing for 3.3.

I don't recall ever losing prospectors due to a collision with my ship. Never had to watch my speed when firing them. Occasionally i would lose one due to it flying right through the asteroid.

Noticed this too. Been that way since Beta for this build. Only way I have found to help is to boost up as I fire the limpet. Of course I have to remember to do this which doesn't happen all of the time.

Have also noticed that collectors damage the ship (T-10) Have resorted to wasting a slot and fitting a shield gen or hull repair limpets.
This is something that was reported in the beta but not changed for release. The problem is that the chunks broken off from the new mining methods are too big and are making contact with the ship's hitbox when a collector tries to fit it in the hatch. It's also pretty much impossible to manually scoop them without taking damage.

Happens on any ship as far as I know. Happened to me on a Cobra 3 and a Type-10. I never fly without a shield, but I can always see from the ship hologram on the dashboard that the shields take a hit every time a collector deposits a chunk.

I've often had prospectors fly through roids. I know I've hit these roids, but the prospectors fly straight through. Maybe FD fixed this bug, and in the process introduced the bug that hits your ship.

Prospectors fly right through asteroid bases too. I haven't tried prospecting one in 3.3 yet.

I know in my T-9 I was having issues but it was easy to solve. The shape of the ship causes the prospectors to slide along the belly until they clear the nose. Due to the T-9's tokyo-drift method of maneuvering, I was firing a prospector while the ship angle was still changing and it was colliding every time.

To solve it, I got better at flying. I only fire the prospectors now when I've got no lateral movement, or, if I do, I immediately use "up" thrust after firing to give the limpet clearance from the ship.

Took some getting used to, now I don't notice it.

As for the OP's statement about losing drones in the cargo bay, I have no idea what that's about unless you're moving "down" while the limpet is bringing cargo "up" to your bay and you're smashing into the collector limpet.

Hope this helps.

No pitch, roll, or yaw when firing prospectors. Sorry.

Same thing here.
At first i thought it might have been an Asp specific issue, since I'd never mined in an asp before. Seems universal though.

I have to admit I still get a chuckle out of it when the limpet flies out dead and tumbling towards it's target.
I always take more than i need, so not really a big deal to me.

It did it again tonight. Lost two drones, launching a prospector. There *is* a rumbling sound occurring when it fails. Ship was at essentially a dead stop, pointed right at the target.

No further failures after that.

Oh, and the usual twenty second screen freeze happened once.

Nope. They still fly through Roids. Had it happen a couple of times during my last session. :(

Can confirm, this happened to me in my Clipper and my Cobra Mk IV.

Prospector get destroyed immediately when I go faster than the limpet´ s top speed (~200 m/s). Something that didn´ t happen pre 3.3.

Yes, absolutely! Kept happening to me this morning. I was in a Krait Phantom. Thought it was just me (maybe flying too close to other asteroids or manoeuvering while launching the probe). Really glad to hear it wasn't just me.

Bug report?

I've had it happen in an Adder, iCourier, Diamondback Explorer and a Fed Dropship. That's all the ships I've tried with the new mining. I doubt the ship actually matters, the bug seems to apply to all ships.

I tried the thrusting vertically trick when firing. Surprise! It worked. We'll see how it goes in future.

Lots more NPC's after you now, for your cargo.
