The profanity filter for Squadrons is utterly flawed, here is why

No I don't want to block 95% of the comms from normal folk, just those that think using the C word every 2 lines is 'cool'; a toggle yes, on by default but otherwise I don't want to read filth.

We have a toggle, that's all that's needed.

And typically in relation to FDev, they're allowed use kiddy names like 'Hugh Jarse' but they filter our names.. Not that it works very well..

It's at a stage where I'd almost be ready to advocate that allowing ship names was a mistake. I mean it's a great feature, but if its censored the way it is, then it's just wrong. Better if it flagged up on entering a name, rather than allowing it to be set then hiding it from others, so the first you ever know about being censored is when someone posts a pic of the "USS *** ****" or whatever.
They should either warn on entering, and be transparent about it and what's triggered it... Or remove names completely and refund people who bought name plates.

I also hope that the filter on/off option does not prevent FD from examine complaints about the language in chat.

I especially don't want people saying ' you cant get offended; should of had the filter on' and thinking this allows them to post racist or sexist content; I want FD to stamp hard on those guys.

Absolutely agree.
If you can't see it, you don't know what to complain about.
