CQC I know FD will not update CQC but..

Something I really think CQC needs is something that's been said multiple times already.
A new matchmaking system. Something with some control, instead of this .. thing we already have.

Last night I joined a match and it became very clear I was not wanted there. 2 players already in seemed to have good time without me and as they noticed me, it was 2 on 1 match. I get it. They wanted to have good times shooting each other. So I left them alone as soon as that round ended.
There should be a way to start a match with you and your buddy/group and keep it that way if you wanted to. When on a squad, give math creator an ability to choose the amount of players for that match. Or make it a squad only. I'm sure lots of player groups would love it. non-experienced players wouldn't have to join in to a match with veterans. Tournaments/duels could be arranged much more easier.
And while at it, maybe even give option to turn off the powerups? and increase that squadsize to 8 with team selection option for team deathmatch/capture the flag.

Oh well.. consider this to my letter to Santa that happens to work on the Frontier offices. I'm old enough to know he's not real, but trying anyways.
Merry christmas everyone in the Elite community who happens to stumble on this post.

Right on CMDR

P.S. I know lots of people would like to see bots in cqc too, and I'm totally not against that idea. Why the heck not :) more ships = more chaos which means better fights

I would dearly, dearly love to be able to queue up for CQC in the main game, any of the three CQC options would be fine. This would be a great acknowledgement of the value of our time.

As I have said many times before, CQC needs a form of incentive if you want to get enough players in for successful matches. at the moment only really the die hard players use CQC and a few stragglers wanting to pass time. If you had things such as a weekly leaderboard (that pays rewards), unique modules, MUCH better payouts and even engineer materials you would have ALOT more people. :)

I know the idea of introducing Arena to the live game has been mentioned on the forums before. I think it could work, if the Commanders had to first park their ship in the outpost/s first before choosing from a selection of Arena specific ships to fight with (to even out the playing field). There could be Arena sites dotted about enough to not have to travel too far when the urge for a scrap comes. Rankings could be shown in a separate menu, rather than the HUD, for those that don't want to see it in their ship.

One thing we've seen from the introduction of CQC squadron leaderboards is a few people just showing up to blow up their stationary alt over and over for the leaderboard points. I imagine that would get a lot worse if you could actually get something really worthwhile from it.

At the moment, it's not too big a problem - you just kill them too because they don't know how to fight targets which fire back - but if everyone was doing it then it might be easy to find a match but not a fun one.

Powerplay does not appear to have benefited from offering Prismatic Shields, Enforcers, Pack-hounds, etc. as rewards, for example.

CQC have to be part of the mission board. It's way to get new fun CG without grinding something. Imagine Galactic Championships Community Goal in CQC, it should be great! Frontier have to do something with it finally, because only this way PVP will be fun and profitable, when I don't want to do other things like for example mining or trading.

I really do like the idea of having Engineers materials (or other rares). The problem with AFK people would be solved if the win was available as daily after, let's say, earning a total of 750 point. (Remember assists count too). This was people would be incentivised to participate as you don't get points for getting killed and doing nothing and would leave after doing the daily as they would be nothing more to gain.

I also totally love the idea that CQC would be tied to CG, or even better - to a political faction. You would represent one of the factions as a champion in CQC. If they set the rewards right, it would be a reason to play it. Furthermore this is very lore-friendly - sportsman / gladiator winning for the cause of the patron is very common as it would bring the patron prestige. I am sure something like that exists in the universe. Once again, the reward could be tied to points gained to deal with AFKers. Also there would not be possible the usual tricks - changing modes, getting multiple quests from several instance on the same station planet etc.

Great ideas guys! Now, if only devs saw this!

If we play it (even if it's not well developed), they will develop it...

I love CQC, but often I just don't remember about it.

I've said before, if there was just a link to it in the station services it would be used.

Also on update days, we could all be directed there for some competitions while the main game is down for 10 hours.

Yeah, if there were to be a leaderboad, perhaps it should reset every week, and removes all inactive players? that way only those who have participated have a chance at getting something :)

I agree with powerplay, I admit to just using it to grind modules. and I think it is a hideous grind wall (all the modules should just be added to Tech brokers for permanent unlock)

i started playing Ed about 4 months ago and barely found out about CQC via youtube; gave it a shot and had some of the most fun i've ever had in any game. problem is the lack of players. if they would attach it to the main game with some sort of incentive, i can see it being a much larger hit.

I don't get this - cqc queue in the main game - requirement. To join CQC all you need to do is to click Arena in main menu and voila. It's that simple.

I think the wish is to be able to keep playing the "normal" game while you wait for a queue. Nobody likes sitting in a lobby wondering how long it will be until a game pops up when they could be doing literally anything else in the regular game.

How important this is to you will vary a lot based on how hard it is to find games, which in turn varies wildly by timezone.

CQC is nearly dead on consoles; my guesstimate is a few hours each week of usage, almost entirely via discord or PS4 message group pre-arranged.

Allowing to queue in game, and then you simply exit to menu from game once a queue is full and be transferred straight to CQC, would be a simple and dramatically effective change.
