I don't care about 'your' missions - stop bugging me!

Is anyone else getting sick and tired of having your message box overflowing with unsolicited mission requests? Lately I seem to get them in bunches of 6 at a time, and I have never accepted one, not once! As soon as I deleted them, another half dozen pop up, it is a never ending hell. And what is worse is that because travel is so easy now, I can get them from factions that are 200lys away. The sad thing is they are normally a low paid mission anyway, so they are just a waste of resource and effort on FD's part.

Please FD, cut these back, if I wanted to take missions I would go to a mission board. If I am out and about I am am normally on some task, so there is no way I am going to drop everything and take some courier mission for 2,000Cr or travel 150lys for an assassination mission (if I am lucky enough to be in the right ship).

Okay, mini rant over, normal transmission will continue after this short break from our sponsor ...

I've found that if you just delete them, come back, but if you go into each message and delete it, they don't.

No idea why, but it seems to work.

Tried both ways of deleting them, they still came back - guess someone in FD just doesn't like me :D

I think they reappear when I throw the message in the 'bin' (I get a reminder) but if I open the message and use 'X' to decline the mission they disappear for good.

cheers

It’s like unsolicited telemarketers (are they ever solicited?). The rando (always worthless) mission offerings are irritating.

Like a lot of things in the game, the idea is good, the execution is poor. If these missions weren't low cost clones of the same missions available via the Boards it would be different. Here FD has a chance for some outstanding mission, high paid to encourage the player to either abandon or delay the task they are on and head off on some unique type mission that is worthwhile. But no, they are nearly all low paid, low rep missions that are just an irritant.

Funnily enough i once got one in 3.2. I was doing a vip transport (no sightseeing) that paid 3.5 mil then this random guy contacts me and is like: "heyyy wanna sell those passengers to us as slaves? We'll pay you 35k for the effort wink wink nudge nudge"

Geez

What I thought was really interesting, I destroyed a entire convoy of NPCs in a lawless system, a bunch of Sidewinders and Eagles, and awhile later I got a thank you message for taking out the pirates and got offered a mission to take out some more pirates.

They're for the newer players mostly, I think. Something to give them a bit of immersion and add some variety to their gameplay.

I do them on occasion, and when I don't feel like it I just decline them.

What bothers me more is the little "message chime" I get whenever someone comes online. Please do away with that immediately. As a matter of fact, do away with online/offline and chat channel notifications altogether. It's just needless spam.

Still completely broken... If they're for the newer player, it's a lovely way for the game to trick the noob and make it clear that the system is bonkers.

That is more like it, contextual missions are what we should have, tied into what you are doing or even what you normally do. Either that and/or have a reward too good to miss, but these pointless low reward spam missions are annoying.

This I'll agree with. When they come in they seem to be a little all over the place. They should, for the most part, be contextual to your loadout or recent activities.

If I'm mining, ask for some mining commodities.
If I'm in a cargoless Viper geared for combat, ask me to go kill someone.
If I have 256 tons of cargo space, ask me to haul something.
etc.
