A way to identify probed planets?

I've just begun a trip out to Sag A so I could play with the new exploration toys and I'm liking the new system except for one thing.

I don't know if I'm missing something, but I can't see a way to identify planets that I've probed in a system. Other than memorising which planets I've already down, is there a way to identify the planets that I've already visited?

With the old system, you could tell which planets you'd visited from the 'unexplored' label, but now that's all done in FSS mode, so they're all named when you're looking around from the cockpit. I was hoping that there'd be an immediate indicator of probed planets too.

I couldn't see a way to determine if I'd probed a planet there either, although I'm sure I'm missing something there.

But A visual indicator from the cockpit is what I'd like to see, so that you can fly straight to the nearest planet from the one you've just probed without having to jump through maps. Something like the targeting reticle turning blue on a probed planet or remaining yellow if you haven't probed it. Maybe even just a symbol on the navigation panel like the little blue icon that tells us that it's landable.

It labels systems that have been probulated as "mapped" in the system map under the details section for that body. Yes I know it's not obvious and easy to spot just from the cockpit but it is there.

Well I guess the frontier guys have a job to do then! Some kind of indicator so that you can tell as soon as you lock onto a planet would be great!

Here an easy trick if you're still unsure. Start at the First planet Let say Lave So you would scan Lave 1 a then Lave 1 b until that cluster is done. Then Lave 2 a and Lave 2 b and keep going until the whole system is done.

The only problem with that is that the orbit of the planets often means that the next planet in line is way over the other side of the system, but one that's 4 planets down the list might only by 70 or 80Ls away.

Don't know if I get you correctly. But in the system map there is some line indicating whether you surface mapped a body. It's on the second tab right under the description of the planet.
Regarding efficient rotes in the system the orrery should help you planning.

There's room for improvement and for now it requires you to do a bit planning yourself but it is possible and I enjoy actually a bit of this challenge.

If you got any question or I missed your point completely, please let me know

Yes, something like this would be good.

Currently, you need to go to the system map and look at the information panel for the selected body. It'll say, "This planet has been mapped" or "This planet has not been mapped".

Note that the message doesn't mean by anybody. It means by you. Its wording is ambiguous.

We're also missing any "biological activity" indicator in the system map information panel. There is a text message about geological activity, but not biological.

That's really helpful, I haven't played with the orrery yet, I'll have to look into it.

But yeah the one thing I'd like to see is some change to the HUD when you're looking around the system in cockpit.

In the past I'd fly around scanning planets and just look for the closest unexplored tag that I could see, it was quick and convenient without the need to go trawling through the nav menu or system map. Like i mentioned, something like the reticle turning blue on a probed planet or an icon at the end of the planets name would be great.

While the detailed surface scan indicator shows up in the SysMap second tab for the body's details, I do think a small marker in the Nav Panel against the body would be visually more useful. E.g. green tick, green dot, dot, or some other icon.
