Samsung Occulus VR thingy

What will come first. ED Note 4 edition or some sort of live stream/VR from PC to Note 4 when its in that headset.

Samsung just announced their VR thingy at IFA.

Given the Occulus attention for this game, my guess is it should move a few braincells when such an announcement is made.

Its the new Note 4, popped into a Occulus headset. Thats the best screen on the mass consumer market paired with the current tech leader of consumer VR. If VR finally is going to be a mass market thing, this might be where the first strike comes. Its not untested tech, Occulus Rift been around for a while as Development Kit. Samsung AMOLED is known for the quality, and isnt the DK2 already powered by a samsung screen? Think I've read about that somewhere.

My bet is on some sort of api/driver that streams content from your PC to the Note 4. I havent followed this part of the market too closely, but my fringe memory tells me there is services already that use powerfull hardware remotely to stream the game to your chosen screen. Nvidia? Sony?

I don't think this is designed for full gaming.
This new Samsung Gear VR was made with help from Oculus and is essentially a cut down headset that allows you to slot a Samsung Note 4 into it.
You can now play your Facerisk games in 3D

Mind you, the OR Dk2 essentially is just a Samsung Galaxy S3 screen with a case and lenses.
The problem here is that the processing power comes from the GFX card in the computer. The Note 4 will be hard pushed to keep up with OR.

Yeah - it's the note 3's.

Didn't read the anouncement yet - does it have positional tracking?

Anyway - if it's supposed to work for more but very crude casual games, streaming is the only option at this stage...

To get the images from pc to android should be easyish. To get the tracking data back to the PC might be a bit worse. I still bet the team behind Carmack could have a working alpha in reasonable time. There sure is enough grunt in a modern phone to handle decompression.

Would be nice to know how a note 4 would handle ED tough.
