Guardian FSD Booster (Wasted time and effort for little)

So my ASP is now from 30 LY to 40 LY jump range using the FSD Booster... big deal. Someone said the ASPX could get to 70, I dont see it at all... I tried modifying it and best I could get it was 43 LY stripped down.

So anyone who is willing to waste time getting all that Guardian stuff, good luck. But this to me doesn't seem worth it nor does it look right. I'd rather mine and explore normally then go all the way out 960 LY away to the Guardian ruins and fight sentinels and get blueprints for this little.

Anyone else experience their "Guardian" FSD Booster wasn't as powerful as you thought? This is only a 25% BOOST. Can't we get 100% Boost? Double would be worth it

EDIT: Lots of replies in here. I have a suggestion. Can we please make it so the FSD is all in one module with the boost? Have the FSD booster and the FSD in two separate ones especially in the ASPX doesn't give room to other modules. Those who got the Guardian FSD Booster, should be able to "attach it" to the FSD drive slot without surrendering another module. Two modules for FSD seems a bit wasted.

It adds that flat amount on top of what is already possible. No false advertising and no RNG. If you’re struggling to work out your builds, try Coriolis. It’s an excellent, free resource: https://coriolis.io/outfit/asp
Granted, 70 Ly jumps require some extreme stripping down. https://s.orbis.zone/1dpy

Sounds like you haven't engineered the range of your FSD.

my non-optimised asp e got just shy of 50 Ly with just engineering the fsd, and 62-odd with the booster. That's still not optimised (D- grade, lightweight fits) so 70 ly is entirely doable. Big thing being, you won't get near 70 without the FSD booster.

Fwiw, that got me ~5500ly in just 90 jumps.

Personally, it’s one of my favourite modules – if you can spare the slot it can make low jump range builds a lot more bearable (even the class 2 adds a nice little boost), and 10 ly felt like a boon for explorers who were pleased with small incremental improvements previously.

It sounds like you haven't kitted out and engineered your Asp optimally. Mine is in the low-mid 60s with weapons and a SRV (haven't flown it in a while :)).

*EDIT

Yes, I've just checked and my Asp does 60.2 ly laden/64.10 ly unladen - and that's with A-rated modules rather than D-rated, weapons etc. Has someone been slacking on their engineering? ;)

My Asp Explorer now does 65ish with the booster and a modest explorer loadout (vehicle hangar, scanners etc).

You're definitely doing something wrong if you're only getting 45ly with the booster. IMO it's one of the most useful modules in the game. Also took my Corvette from about 17ly to 28ly which makes it a much more useful multirole ship.

Yeah, mine's a really sloppy fit in terms of optimisation... 57.6 laden, 60.8 unladen. That drops to 46.3 (50.4) without the booster.

226 LY on a neutron boost :D

Nope, it did exactly what I expected it to do. The FSD boosters add a flat amount of 10 LY for the C5 version, which is great for ships with low inherent jump ranges, like the Federal Corvette. My Vette went from 17LY to 27LY, which is almost a 60% increase.

Obviously a flat increase gets less significant the higher the base jumprange of a ship is and less desirable the fewer internals a ship has to spare for an additional module.

Mine is fairly sloppy from an exploration perspective too. It was my first love early in my game so I just left it as-is for the sake of nostalgia. :D I use it for darting around the bubble now. It’s not an austere build by any means, so I imagine that 70+ is pretty easily achievable.

You seem to have a non-engineered FSD or you have engineered an E Class one.

To get what is considered extreme for jump ranges on any ship, you have to be willing to strip out EVERYTHING and undersize everything. Max Size A-rated / range increase FSD. Engineer every other component (minus FSD) for stripped down, D rate everything (even life support, sensors, hell if really wanting to push, even the power distributor and powerplant, though i still say A-rated in the smallest size for powerplant is best due to heat management).

You aren't going to have any bells and whistles with a stripped down ship... its gonna be very very basic, but itll get the job done. My Krait Phantom is pushing 65 LY and i didnt go AS extreme as I Could since i could go with a size 2 instead of 3 powerplant (Didnt want to grade 5 overcharge a size 2 though, defeats the purpose of heat management).

The FSD booster is indeed noticeable... just combat outfit a Corvette for PvP or Thargoid hunting then slap a grade 5 inside it, head out to maia from the bubble... youll drastically notice the differences in jump range and how many jumps you do.

Yup, slapping one on a combat-fit ship drastically increases it's utility. Coincidentally, I G5 range mod all my combat ship FSD's as standard.

Are you Kidding me??????? they are simply one of the BEST additions to the game.. My corvette can now jump a respectable 27ly instead of a paltry 17... same with my FDL and other combat ships...

Even with a reasonably heavy Krait Phantom, which I am now using instead of my Asp and Anaconda for exploring, gets nearly 60ly Thanks to these modules.

Whoever at frontier thought of these modules gets a massive tick in my book..

One of the most useful modules ever. Just did the nice journey to the Synuefe guardian sites for my second account and it was no chore at all. Great fun with the new exploration tools 😃
Ok I did it in a moderately engineered Phantom (50 odd ly range). Moderately engineered means Felicity only 😎
No clue how someone can have only 30 ly 🤔

I figured 66 was decent and set off to finish the last half of Pioneer and finally get to Elite explorer. ~240 LY on a jet cone boost made me a bit giddy the first time I got to try it out. It took a couple days of engineering to finish up and I didn’t even go all out.
it wouldn’t have been close to that without the Guardian module I picked up months ago.

The Guardian FSD boost is now standard on my mostly used ships. Please, OP, do some research first, the lack of knowledge is not a crime here, but it can really hurt your game...

Huh?

My Battleconda does 36ly. Lol

What did you do to your Asp?!
