Sounds like an adult version of a Harry Potter potion. I'll be getting right on that one CMDR. :D

You could call it the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster with effects similar to:

"having your brains smashed in by a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick."

I can't play the game at all -_-

Game won't update, have been through every section of the FAQ info and done as suggested - and that's given my many years in IT troubleshooting.

My bud is also having some in game issues and cannot resolve some faction state changes.

And at present the available support we have is non-existent.

Glad you're alright though ;)

Sorry man, that's rough.

I fouy could get in, it's really OK. A few annoyances here and there.

Given ED's track history of borking updates, am I the only one that thinks dropping a major update at the start of the holiday season was utterly insane?

We have as always a pretty monumental level of installation and game issues, the QA team is entirely unavailable until next year and FDev have no one in place to introduce patches?

*sigh*

A few features were dropped from this update, with hindsight that seems to have been a sensible move. I'm still playing as much as before, albeit with the occasional loss of connection or freeze but it's still useable for some activities. Try doing something different for a while, that way you'll have a better idea of when the disconnects & freezes have settled down & you can resume your normal activities.

I've moved to a system about 100ly from my normal BGS activities to make sure I don't counteract my own goals. I'm not doing the things I want to do but I can still earn cash & collect mats.

People generally only come here to moan so it's going to cause trends of moaning.

EDSM and Steam Charts report a mass increase in players so that would suggest more people are playing without problems than those with?

Who knows! but given the way Elite works and how the community works bug and problems with this game seem to be reported and moaned about more than say a bug in World of Warcraft.

I agree with you, though not for my own sake. Before the update, I was playing other games because ED has been exceptionally buggy for me (PS4) for a long time now, limiting my gameplay which inevitably led to boredom and the shelving of the game. The update actually sucked me right back in, because I'm one of the few who very much enjoy the new exploration tools. However... The introduction of new bugs, on top of old bugs that have been made worse instead of being fixed, has me once again shelving the game and looking at a nice alternative for my vacation R&R, like the newly-released Subnautica for my console!

But back to agreeing with you - there will be new players trying this game out for the first time this week, and many of them will be met with crashes, long freezes, and the entire list of other horrible bugs old and new that plague this current version of Elite Dangerous. These new gamers won't have had time to grow fond of the game that's buried beneath the bugs, so they will likely walk away and not look back. For this reason alone, the timing of this update was a terrible decision on Frontier's part. They should have waited until the New Year, or pushed out the update a month sooner so they would have had time to fix the most game-breaking of bugs. First impressions matter, and many people are not going to like the first impression they experience Christmas morning...

With your experience; I'm sure you have tried switching it off and on again?
I.e. uninstall everything ED related, then re-install from scratch? Since your game state is (ok, should be) stored on the servers, all you'll be losing is another few hours of time. And if that doesn't work, you'll at least know that it's something on your end, harsh as it sounds.

With you so far, although the number of those for me is tolerable.

But here I disagree. In which way is this worse than any other game (ok, apart from Solitaire, perhaps)? You need some frustration tolerance with any game, especially after a release or a major update. Or during the holidays.

Perhaps this is the way it is on PCs running Windows (I used to be a PC gamer, once). On my console, every other game in my library just works. I'm not saying there aren't "silly" bugs, but nothing of the like that I experience in Elite Dangerous on my platform. Granted, I stay away from games that are reported as bug-ridden messes by reviewers (like ME: Andromeda), but that list is pretty small. If I treat myself Spiderman or Red Dead Redemption or Subnautica this Christmas, I know I'll have a blast with all of those, and whatever bugs are there will be in the periphery, not in-my-face like Elite's bugs.

And even if COD4 suffers a major server meltdown that incites the rage of a million PS4 players from around the world, that doesn't negate the OP's point.

I have that recipe too:

1. 1 oz Everclear
2. 1 oz Absolut Citron
3. 4 oz Sprite

Mix well, pour over ice, garnish with lemon slice.
Attempt to remember last night.
