PvP Two birds-One PvP solution

Well, for me personally that would be a good thing. although gankers perhaps wouldn't be so happy about it :D

I suppose that is one motive as to why it is done I guess, although I am bored also and would NEVER consider killing an innocent player, especially for pleasure ( as I would get non, quite the opposite knowing I just hurt someone emotionally) I do have a Hyperactive conscience though, can't even play the bad guy in most RPG games without caring for NPCs :D

However, my view is that PvP should have some sort of divide, be that through powers or sides of the law (both of which have been done POORLY) in order for PvP to actually earn the 'v' in the middle. whilst some gankers will disappear, there may be those who will find excitement through the contestant running.

I have to ask, what is your idea of an ideal outcome? I couldn't tell from your post if getting rid of gankers was a good or bad thing for you sorry :)

I will have a look at it, I don't have it as I actually preferred being away from people with the originals ( it was a form of escapism :D ) so the prospect of being with other players never caught my attention

Well first of all, I personally only gank people to try to find new players to pvp with but if I had a consistent, reliable way of finding consensual pvp battles, I wouldn't bother trying to gank people and I know the vast majority of gankers would do the same because I know most of the gankers in ED and I know that's why they do what they do. They're just bored.
That's not to say ganking would disappear entirely but it would become an extremely rare occurrence.
Also, it would no longer be a "got blown up for no reason". It would be because you were in enemy territory or maybe an enemy power is trying to expand into your territory or whatever the case may be.
In Elder Scrolls Online you have 3 factions that battle each other for dominance over Cyrodiil.
In elite you would have the 11 powers battling over dominance of the bubble.

So let's say I'm aligned with Arissa Lavigny-Duval and you're aligned with Felicia Winters and you're running cargo in my territory to try to take it over for Felicia Winters because doing so means higher payouts and better rewards for PvP kills and running missions for your power. Now I come into the system to try to stop you and let's say I successfully do. I'm no longer just killing you for no reason, I'm doing it because you're encroaching on my territory and reducing my payouts and now I can go back to the Arissa Duval home base to turn in the bounty for killing you and let say I get 3 million for killing you.

Now for you, the fact that you're running missions in enemy, player controller space and you know I'm gonna try to defend it, youre more likely to build your cargo or mining ship to be able to fight me or bring a bunch of your buddies to escort you while you're doing your thing because there's actually something in it for them.

You see where I'm going with this? It doesn't eliminate gankers, it just gives what they do purpose and encourages everyone who wants to pvp to pitch in and lend a hand even if they're running cargo or mining or whatever.

I'm sorry but who cares? Those snowflakes that cry when they lose a little bit of game money ruin the game for everyone else anyways. I'm sorry to sound so cruel but good riddance. Let em leave or play in solo.

Who cares about your PvP? Leave if it doesn't suit you.

Ahhh, thanks for that, I understand now :)

Wait, was that not what Powerplay was intended for?... oh yeah, that's right.... it's been broken since day 1 Hehe :D If it actually worked like the system you suggested, it would be a very nice way of encouraging PvP :)

Past few other responses are a nice example of how polar this debate gets, that it on the topic of griefing. this is why I posted this topic in the first place. as it appears that we really need to get a solution that caters for both such extreme sides of the argument (that is Anti-Griefers (Pro extreme punishment) and the Player Rights Supporters ( Pro Anarchy/ freedom of choice gameplay. living by Frontiers "Blaze Your Trail" exercising freedom, including ganking))

Whilst I do not agree with griefers, I also respect the boundaries of the rules, in which they are complying. you may say I am more of the 'on the fence' vote for this topic. and equal solution for all if better than a biased one.

How can I start a Poll? or if anyone can i'd like to see this debate opened;

Should Greifers/gankers be punished more severely?

Very curious to see the figures on just how many people are positioned on this topic.

Some kind of time delayed position of players with the highest number of PvP kills in some time span could work well. For well tuned time delays it would make for some interesting ”hunt down the killers” game play while at the same time providing meaningful and consensual PvP content for both the hunters and the hunted. It wouldn’t be ”the player is here right now” but more like ”seen / rumored to be in systems x, y and z in the last few hours” to allow for a level of hunting, chasing, searching, and for the hunted maybe some hiding or re-locating to lay down a false trail, ambushing the hunters, etc.

At the same time the bounties have to be meaningful so that everyone involved cares.

Well, now there's the problem. Powerplay would have to be open only because players would just go into solo/pg to expand their territory and opposing players could do nothing to stop them.
I suspect that is what powerplay was originally intended for but when Fdev made mention of it, the solo snowflakes came out screaming because it wasn't for them.

I still think your idea of making wanted players with notoriety, visible on the galmap is fantastic. I also think having the bounty come out of the players own pocket would greatly discourage newb killers.

These people that posted in this thread do nothing but try to discredit me and like to try to spin me into the nastiest, most hateful person in the gamewhen they know nothing about me. I've just started to either ignore them or poke fun at them.

Lol, who cares about your solo play, leave if you don't like it, or just stay in solo, by yourself.
You can't add anything to conversations can you?
I only killed him judge cuz I wanted to be his friend.

LoLZ!

Lol, cool story bro! You really think I care about what a snowflake carebear thinks of the way I play videogames? Go kick rocks
You say this as it was a bad thing?
punishing gankers, pirates, murderers isn't a bad thing but you can't just punish them to the point of making the game unplayable for them. All you would succeed in doing is ruining PvP for the entire game.
Putting them on teams and giving them purpose while encouraging good guy players to hunt them would be much more of a proper way to include everyone of all play styles.
