Buggiest update ever

Don't play the BGS so can't comment on it, I just let it run in the background.

Game play has been quite good at my end. Couple of connection issues on release day and haven't had a freeze in over a week.
Bindings have never been an issue, every update has gone smoothly.

Just my experience not a condemnation of anyone else. So chill.

In response to the OP I have experienced most of these issues on PS4, but mostly since the patch we got last Tuesday, after the update. I was expecting bugs, but not this many, and certainly not occurring this regularly. Particularly bad for Matchmaking/Transaction server fails today, I eventually gave up as it was getting monotonous; just glad I hit my objectives (eventually!).

I just logged in & my passenger mission has disappeared. Checked my stats page & they haven't abandoned ship (I've never lost a passenger), checked my logs & AFAIK the mission was there at 10pm when I was last in the game, now it's as though I never had the mission.

It was a rich explorer mission going about 1,600ly out from the bubble with a 3 week timer, I was about half way there having picked up the mission this morning.

That's not a boat its a fixed wing seaplane. The main difference being boats can't fly as I explained above.

Nope, it says "flying boat" and even if you don't consider that to be a boat (which it is), Morbad showed a nice picture of another boat flying.

You need to spend less time moaning and git gud.

LOL, I could blast you into pieces if I were to see you in-game.

How does fdev expect anyone to pay for content when they release free updates that are so bad.... they gonna start advertising better connections for $$$ as their first paid content release? gave up for the day. Maybe the week or longer. I am taking up the fdev qa team mantra of "not worth the effort" when it comes to playing for awhile.

Do you work in the software development industry

Yes

Do you have any idea how complicated and unwielding Elite dangerous has now become

Yes

Do you understand the agile process

Clearly not.

I do, and I don't think it's the best framework for ensuring quality, plus I have no evidence that FD uses it

Do you post on EA activation star citizen website with the sma e vigor?

Interesting read https://www.techrepublic.com/blog/it-security/the-danger-of-complexity-more-code-more-bugs/

Who cares about vapor citizen.

Answers in blue...

The point being, whatever they're doing it's not enough in the change management process to ensure that; bugs that have previously been solved don't get reintroduced (kinda basic) and the testing phase is of appropriate length conducted by appropriately skilled people, with appropriate action plans formed based on results.

Kinda basic but takes time. Time to merge the bug fixes that have piled up on the live build since the last split. To merge them with the main trunk that carries the new features added since the last split. Time to reconcile the fixes with main code that's diverged, and catch and fix the bugs that this itself introduces. Time that's more than it should be because just operating the game is hampered by the backlog of unfixed bugs remaining because you didn't get to complete the above on the previous few releases.

Time you don't have until the main trunk is locked down. Meaning if the main trunk feature development slips schedule, even with late cuts to try to recover the schedule (carriers, ice planets), if you you are facing a looming December release deadline, it is TIME YOU DON'T HAVE. You are stuffed. Management has to choose what to release -- the bug-build without new features OR the bugged build with new features. That or delay the release, miss the bi-annual financial report deadline, and take the hit.

Go figure, as they say. I truly admire the ED devs who have stuck at their jobs through that for the past three years.

I admire the devs of this great game, I highly doubt whatever is wrong is on them.

I'm still having planets that are targeted on approach in super cruise show black square for 1-2 seconds. I thought it was my old laptop. So over the course of two years I've completely replaced that system with desktop windows 10.

I am always hallucinating how people are compleasant with FD.... finding excuses for everything.

Gosh, in my professional world, not 1/4 of their work would be acceptable in term of quality.

Seriously ? You admire failures ? Good for you then.

Its the industries leading space game by a wide margin, that's not really a failure.

Really ? it is leading because there are no competitors, that is all. Easy to lead when you are the only one.
At least, you didn t say sim space game.

More seriously, i could forgive the bugs if they weren’t making same mistakes over and over at each update. And also lying about stuffs. And it is getting worse at each update. I wonder if they haven’t outsourced some part of it since they have no clues how it is working.

I took the BGS as example previously but it is a blattant example of series of failures.
