Why does Frontier release limited edition paint jobs, and never releases them again?

You want something to be upset about? All those exclusive paintjobs that you missed the sale for and will never be able to buy... are still taking up space in your hard disk because the game still needs to draw them if someone else has them.

And then there are the paintjobs that are not sold but given away. Many Cmdrs won't be able to get them but the data has to be there anyway.

How do you tell if something is even limited edition, and isn't gonna be re-released the next year? Just assume if it's an individual paint job (not sold in a six-pack), and it's something actually worth buying, it's a limited edition?

Speaking of exclusivity, not too long ago someone said my iridescent purple Cutter was “cool”. If I knew he could eventually get the same paint job, I’d write a strongly worded letter to Frontier, demanding my money back. :D

Usually the special seasonal paintjobs are "limited" whether it's the summer sale of the iridescent scorch or dusk or the golden/chrome , or now the iridescent gleam of this holiday festive.

btw, your iridescent cutter paintjob you got earlier is not the same as iridescent gleam which seems to be a different iridescent variation altogether so you still have a very limited paintjob.

I can empathize where I'd waited for the chrome cutter paintjob to come back which it didn't to my disappointment. (I have it for my first account, but was hoping for it on my secondary account). I'm beginning to suspect that it seems like they could be rolling dice or flipping coins during the festive for a type of paint set composing of the limited festive paintjobs, i.e. type of ship + for this season, one of three paintjobs namely chrome|golden| or iridescent gleam. This could explain possibly why the golden aspX paintjob did return from a year(s?) prior where the frontier store confirmed that I already had this particular paintjob.

Without aiming this message at anyone who may have either posted or commented on this matter, but....

There are more serious things in this world to worry about. If this is your level, well so be it, just beware that Darwinism is alive and well and constant navel engagement may well involve your species developing different skeletal connections, allowing the cranium to access the lower bowel.

TL/DR?

Get a life.

Because artificial scarcity is a great way to instill a sense of anxiety in customers, adds more weight to the decision to buy and lets them increase the price while adding no value to the product.

L2capitalism.

I was waiting for the Golden Eagle paint job, and the Golden and Chrome Cutter paint jobs.

They will probably never return. On the upside the Iridescent Gleam paintjobs look very similar to the chrome ones. I was waiting for a chrome Clipper and got the Iridiscent Gleam instead... looks chromish enough for me to not buy a real chrome paintjob, if they ever release one in the future.

Lol, Limited Edition says it all really, thats as silly as why cant I have the Cobra IV when all the pre-order folk got it.

As I said, Edsel The Cobra 4 feels lonely. No special stuff for the holidays.

I did get a gold T-6 paint job. Mootilda deserves it. :)

I'm sure there's an Inigo Montoya meme for this...

Limited Edition you keep using that word but I don't think it means what you think it means!

You killed this thread prepare to die!

One would think that the "limited edition" would provide a clue.
i.e. an edition of something such as a book, plate, etc, that is limited to a specified number

Yes they did, starting with the flag paint jobs 4 years ago, selling them for 5 euro's a peace. They were re-introduced for less, guess how the first batch of customers reacted...

I remember that, fun times and lesson learned (by Frontier - I hope) :)

A more accurate ref in this specific case is . Time Limited. ie its sold for a specic duration . Rather than quantity limited as its a digital product.
