General / Off-Topic Developing a program...

where you enter what you want to post on the forum an it checks it against the T&C and highlights inappropriate content.

I was advised to hit the 'advanced' button, before posting. It highlights any issues; I was lead to believe. Never done it myself.

is there a way to code, to understand; if something is implied? I would say that it will be a long time before AI manages to read and understand something; as well as a human can.

Not heard of Grammarly? https://www.grammarly.com/?q=grammar&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Search&utm_term=grammar%20rules&matchtype=e&msclkid=01567de0f9861367890c21c68fbed1e6

Speak for yourself retired software developer from North America.

Well I hope you get an A on your project, grad student. It's a clever bot you've got there, but I'm not sure it passes the Turing test yet.

I have seen similar programs, but have no use for them myself.

I was not talking about tensed, grammar or spelling. That should be easy to program. I was talking about how something can be implied, without actually saying it out right.

That happens all the time on this forum

implied and direct statements

Statement:
You are stupid - this is an example of a direct statement

to say or imply this indirectly you would say I'v seen children who are only 3 or 4 who are smarter than you

Question:

Direct:
Where is the train station?

Indirect (implied)

Do you know where the train station is?

By saying this you are really only asking them if they know where it is, but you are not asking them to answer you, this type of question technically only reqiures a yes/no response, but you really want them to give details

I understand the differences, my question was: Can AI be programmed to do so, to the same level as some humans.

At the same time: Your above observations prove that you have a rudimentary grasp of the English language and so raises the question of your motives; when you start some of your threads.

Back to your thread starter: Can AI really be made to understand; motives?

why send me a friend request? Its off topic anyway to my op
I agreed that IF was a good piece of advice, although I also stated that it/he was no longer PC and so I guess that the request was an attempt to appeases you. However: Hindsight being a wonderful thing and having now read a large number of your posts and the threads that you have started, I have realised the error on my part. In short: There is no point in trying to appease you and to explain why; would be a breach of the forum rules.

'Oh dear, it seems that I have joined the Elite. Does that mean, that now I have to oppress the masses?'

Is that the plan of all these flame posts by That rank?

If its possible to train a dog to use the web then anything is possible.
While you are researching this program of yours. Take a look at the use of punctuation, because even this old Dog; has a better understanding, than you do.

What amazes me how quote gets selected out of context

FYI I copied and pasted that text from somewhere elese

I would like to know the motives for all the sudden flames to my posts.
Or direct questions ignored.

So no one wants 'discrete pm' ok public it is.
