Quick question regarding megaships/installations?

Can they be a good source for obtaining data for engineering? Also, can you obtain materials too?

Was in the middle of outfitting a Krait Phantom for such a task but figured I'd ask before getting carried away on engineering her.

Data piracy: yes, for some data types. You can get G5 data that way. A few installations have accompanying satellites for a bit of free low-grade data.

Materials: indirectly, by shooting smaller ships near them. Wrecked megaships sometimes have free-floating materials, but not usually anything high-grade enough to be worth hunting down.

Thanks for the reply. Do only certain type of mega ships have data?

That's what I thought but I couldn't find one at an installation and a megaship in Bunda last night. Might of just been tired. will try again. Thanks again.

I presume you know to datalink scan it to reveal the hackable points? And you have to be quite close before they show...
