Newcomer / Intro Problem with cargo scoop radar.

Most of the time, not some of the time, I have a real problem with the cargo scoop radar. You get a bit of light on your dashboard and the scoop radar becomes washed out, so now you can't see the target to align with. Because of this I usually have to do repeated runs at the object or just give up. Surely the dev's must have come across this problem, it's seems weird to have this happen in a game that is well established.

Keep the nose pointed at the target and roll the ship so the body of the ship cuts out the light.
Or get a collector limpet controller and limpets.

What ship? I find some far easier to scoop with than others - I think it was the Python that always seemed to have issues. But as ^^^ says, get a collector limpet controller.

As advised roll to get the dashboard in shadow, this will help in many of the ships but not all, the problem is that some have reflective surfaces in the cockpits which will also reflect a diffuse glow from the holograms themselves which makes the detail difficult to see. The Saud Kruger ships are notorious for this.

I sometimes think the makers of the Collector limpet controller bribe the cockpit designers not to fix this to encourage people to use collectors rather than scoop.

Dolphin is the worst for this - an actual reflection directly in the way that can't be eliminated by rolling as it is from an internal light.

[where is it]

Thing is, this must be really easy to fix. I bet a dev could knock out a fix in 45.2 seconds. It's so annoying when you have a lot to scoop up, you end up with blood-shot eyes from trying to see through the glare.

That is true, but the problem with Elite is that there are thousands of these little easy-to-fix annoyances. So the probability that it will be yours that's fixed soon is quite small. :D

I know what, I will close my eyes and wish very hard for it to be fixed. That should do it. :D

Who knows. :D
That tactic is probably as successful as any other.

In the meantime, like it was said, you can try a different ship. Some are fine, some have these "petty" problems, some are objectively hard to scoop in due to their awkward cargo hatch placement,...

... and so you buy limpets - problem solved :)

In my experience of working with developers, nothing makes them roll their eyes or laugh in your face like suggesting something is an "easy fix" :D
