TL,DR, Horizon was not 100% what they (and we) expected and they don't want to make the same mistake twice. So, by pre-ordering the new DLC in good quantities, we, the players, may be able to assure that the content for the future DLC won't be scaled down or rushed, or let in the hands of the (no offense) B team.
It will be a clear message, like "Go on, make it 100%, we'll buy it no matter what" or something beyond those lines. What do you think?
I think we tried that 6 years ago and it didn't work.
How does that suggestion fit with the faith we put in FDev in the KS - some people paying THOUSANDS (and at least one backer I know around £10,000 GBP) to help fund the game outlined in the KS and devblogs.
We're still waiting for that game to appear - they have been paid ALREADY.
It's been four years since product launch, where is the rest of it?
Mugur, your faith is admirable - but it won't be reciprocated by FDev because it hasn't so far and with 3.3 the way I was released I doubt it will either.
(sure sure the monies they had then has already been spent - on other things like CdC & multicrew that no-one uses nd powerplay that only a small percentage of the playerbase use - they made that choice on their own).
In FDev's proven track record, Pre-payment leads to apathy, and poor production values.
It's about time they FULLY develop a package,
properly beta test it under an NDA and then release it and let us decide if it's worth buying WITHOUT presales - if FDev have faith in their own product, they won't need peoples money beforehand will they?
It's not as though they are broke (although they are definitely poorer than they were).
Edit: After reading the rest of the 4 pages it's an overwhelming "no - I want to see if it's worth it" and after 3.3, you can't blame them.
I'd also quite like to see some other way of describing LEP owners other than Lep(p)er - for pretty obvious reasons. (for those that don't understand, a Leper is a person with the disease Leprosy, which still exists in some parts of the world, is severe and causes significant disfigurement and occsional limb loss. Those people with it were (are) treated as outcasts and shunned by the rest of ignorant society as unclean as if they were covered in excrement (despite it being not highly contagious).
Whereas the ED LEP owners were the ones that ensured the game got made at all, and deserve a better label.
Why not just call us "LEP owners" - it's not like there's a worldwide shortage of letters for the internet is it?
