Boy am I loving exploration!

Just as the title says. In time, I hope to strike out to the far edge of the galaxy, but I am having fun just going further & further afield with each trip. I initially traveled around 200ly in search of a q-type anomaly (which I still haven't found, btw. Though I did find some other notable stellar phenomena in that system)

Then, after doing some missions in the neighbourhood, I decided it'd be nice to chase down some reported forms of Lagrange clouds......& that will require a journey of nearly 600ly from my current position. Taking it slow, though, gathering exploration data as I go. Found 2 amazing high-G planets (each close to 2G), one with Silicate Vapour geysers, & one with Iron Magma.

The exploration tools are *so* cool to work with.....even if I see ways in which they could be further improved. The thing I need to decide is, once I reach my current destination, do I return home......or do I push out further still?!?!

I love exploring in this game and the new exploration tools add a lot, especially being able to quickly find interesting features on planets like geysers and such. There are some really cool things to see in the galaxy. Keep it up and before too long 1,500 ly out will seem like a walk in the park.

I am on my way to the Heart Nebula, after a Raxxla clue. Before the update I would have already made it but because of the new (GREAT) discovery scanner, I'm barely halfway through.

Agreed, love those incentives to check out surface anomalies. Side question; how do q-types reveal themselves? As a signal in the FSS too, or like a unidentified signal source?

Me also.
I wasn't that bothered before and flying 000's of ls got really monotonous and put me off deep space expeditions.

Love the new method and I'm currently refitting my Conda for my first trip to Sag A.

I plan to enjoy it and take my time.

A big thank you and well done to all involved at Frontier.

Already went to The Edge, and spit off into interstellar space. Have to say it was the best looking nothing I’ve ever seen. Working my way around right now. Exploration is vastly improved. Haven’t seen a single Lagrange cloud yet. Wondering if these simply don’t spawn this far out or if I just haven’t found any.

Still going though. Hope to be back before Not-a-Season 4.

I just mentioned it on the Xbox forum.
I always wanted exploration to be my favorite activity but the mechanic was severely lacking, after a couple thousand lightyears I'd lose interest and I headed back to the bubble.
Now I love it, every system is like a box of chocolates to me, you never know what you're gonna get.
The new things to find like organics and the phenomena are a huge cherry on top.
To me personally the new exploration is one of the best changes Fdev could come up with.

I'm about 33KLy out from the bubble, halfway through the Errant Marches. I haven't seen a single Lagrange Cloud or anomaly on my journey.

@indigowyrd
Have you been checkin the contacts lists, they don't show on the fss but as poi's with a codex logo and the title "notable stellar phenomena"
It wasn't until hundreds of jumps that i noticed these in the contacts list, i may have missed a bunch already

Notable Stellar Phenomena definitely do show in the FSS. Indigo isn't showing them because they are 'quite rare'

I agree OP and other CMDRS here that these new exploration tools are brilliant. The Codex as well is a amazing addition to the game as well.
Also dividing space up into regions and you can see what part you have explored.
Also I have made several new regional discoveries Confirmed in Inner scutum-centarus arm:
Stars: 30
Gas Giant Planets: 7
Terrestrial Planets: 14

Need to do a bit more learning with this exploration tool as there is a deep scan mode thing. Just happy scanning the whole system at the moment
will look into that when I get back to the bubble and do some mining and have to learn that all over again, but happy days!!
See you in the stars CMDRs have a good one o7 :)

Ohh man, I wish I did...

Just before 3.3 I started some passenger missions and in one trip found myself just outside the bubble. What I found intriguing was how I felt about being - in my small world - so far out. Felt like I was on my own.

Since the 3.3 drop I’ve been mining but soon to go traveling and try out the new stuff - not that I even know what’s available yet.

Posts like this just make me even keener to get packed up and head off sooner :)

You know its troll thread by who made it. I think it must be very hard for fdev when people deliberatly try to mislead them.

I find it cute how he spent so much time before 3.3 calling people out as not real explorers if they voiced a negative opinion of the new scanners.

He wasn't even an explorer lol.
