A guy tries to suicide ram my Cutter. Game randomly freezes. Great day so far.

So if the game freezes for me then picks up exactly where it left off, and there's other player in the instance, do they see me just hanging motionless in space then suddendly rubberbanding? This is a strange thing. The suicide ramming at jameson system is seriously out of control lately.

I'm sticking to Solo until it's fixed.

or just dont speed when flying big vessels near other players, that solves the issue too. ;) Anyway, not quite sure how the freezing is perceived by others, it is annoying for sure. Not annoying as the random disconnects every few jumps I get today though...

It's because I don't know how other players perceive it that I'm sticking to Solo.

It's the simplest solution, just get rid of people you'd rather not play with :)

How do I prevent people that arbitrarily crap up my instancing by being overly liberal with their block lists from contributing to the BGS I experience?

Block them.

You should also remember that you hold the blocking record yourself at 70 players IIRC, I have 11 people (all station griefers) blocked.

Blocking is not related to the BGS since it can also be influenced in Solo.

It also doesn't change anyone else's instancing. It only (vastly) reduces the blockers chances of entering instances with blocked players, it doesn't actually affect
the blocked at all.

I think his question was:

If you're frozen for 20 seconds, is the OTHER person also frozen for 20 seconds?

If the OTHER person doesn't experience the 20 second freeze that you do, what does the situation look like to the other person if YOU are taking that 20-second break you didn't ask for?

In other words: Do "we" all experience the same 20-second freeze at the same time?

This is worth investigating.

I have an opinion about the people who do this, but it makes people sad and exploiting the game's mechanics in this way has been defended, so it is enough that I say I have an opinion about this, and it will never be changed. Suffice it to say, it is not a high opinion, and this behavior ensures Elite can never be a single, unified instance.

Exactly. Thanks for wording it better.

Yes, I don't know if the freeze affects everyone in the instance.

So I'm playing it safe, and ensure all my instances contain only me by selecting Solo for now.

I think that's a fair compromise.

FWIW, when in voice with group members, we often seem to experience the 20 second pause/hourglass _at the same time_, regardless of whether we're in the same instance or 1000s of light years apart. It seems galactic.
