DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE WEEKLY CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST ?? ABRAKKA DRABBLE !!

[up] Click this link: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...E-Thread-(-shiny-new-forum)?highlight=drabble

or simply type the word "drabble" into the search bar at the top right of the forum home page and you will be shown to the ABRAKKA DRABBLE thread.
Here you will find the weekly drabble contest and a bunch of cool short stories written by your fellow CMDRs.
The contest has been running mostly weekly since (I think) 2013(?).
It costs nothing to enter and it takes most of us only a few minutes to compose a story each week so tell your friends to enter too!
There is no tangible prize except the cheers and jeers of your friends and fellow drabblers as well as a weekly opportunity to exercise those stiff brain muscles.
Oh yeah and when you win, you get to choose the subject of the next week's contest. [yesnod]

Complete rules can be found at the ABRAKKA DRABBLE thread but the basic rules are incredibly simple:

A "drabble" is a short story of exactly 100 words length and so all drabbles must be exactly 100 words in length.
All drabbles must be set (at least loosely) in the Elite: Dangerous universe.
A new subject/theme is chosen each week by the previous week's winner and all contest entries must adhere to the weekly subject/theme.
Each week a winner is chosen by popular vote and the winner of each week's contest gets to choose the subject for the next week's drabble.

So check out the thread, read some of the stories (you cannot read them all, there are hundreds, skip to the last pages to see the latest stories) and let's see if you have the guts to put yourself out there.

My drabble for this week "Waxing Nostalgic" has already been posted. I am looking forward to reading yours.

[rolleyes] PS: "The Drabble Show" no longer runs but the contest goes on. The creator of the show got himself a real job and moved out of his parent's basement. [up]

[hehe] PPS: FDev forum mods, it would be really helpful if you all would please sticky and lock this thread so I do not have to re-post it every week. Thanks.

Thanks for the bigging up JetsonRING. I think a lot of folks thought the contest ended with the show. The contest was held before it was televised (Twitch-ized?) and it will continue afterwards, hopefully

The way i see it,As the universe evolves,we expand with it.The synergy of chaos and harmony allows us to transcend time.If we construct the future in the current, the past shows us the way foreward and we can navigate in the certainty that we have a chance, however slim,to arrive at a future purrfect in comparative safety and health.Combine that with the ability to pursue this zeno's paradox from the comfort of one's armchair and as juvenal once wrote,'i'm getting too old for this, and i still can't spell.'

Great, another thing in this great game I want to do but don't have time for. Expect my entry when I retire.

I wrote a drabble yesterday in well under ten minutes. It does not require very much thought or much time. We're not writing the Great American Novel, here. But then, I was one of the few who did not groan and grumble when a teacher asked for 500 words on a subject because I could write 500 words over lunch. It was pencils & pens I hated. Now we have modern word-processors and I love to write. o7

Yeah, I've heard about it. Even entered before. Wasn't impressed. Probably won't do it again.

Why? Because you did not win? I entered many times before I won. Also, I think most of the "writers" who were just making poop jokes to have them read on the show have dropped out. o7
