Distributor Pip allocation / identification, unbelievably poor design

So i cant quite get my head around how bad the distributor pip design is. I use a POV hat to allocate the pips, it is impossible to allocate a 3 in one, 2 in another and 1 in the third. period!, Its entirely possible to allocate 5 PIPS for GOD SAKE!!! How is this even possible?? why would they allow a sixth pip to disappear?????.

I find it so difficult and annoying to simply see / manoeuvre the pips to a 3/2/1 configuration that i just live with a 222 set-up know.

My hat switch is SYS left, ENG up, WEP right, reset down, and for a simple 3/2/1 I reset to 2/2/2, click once right for 1.5/1.5/3, then click three times left for 4/0/2, then up twice for 3/2/1.

Not the best implementation of a mechanic, I agree, but I can do it without thinking about it now that I'm used to a system.

YUP
To easy to use in any combination.

Pips increment by halves.listen for the change in tone

3/0/3- Three pips in SYS, three in WEP. Hit Reset, then hit either SYS or WEP twice, followed by the other one twice. Order doesn't matter. Like so: Reset>SYS>SYS>WEP>WEP

2/0/4- Order matters for this one. The part you want 4 pips in should be the second one you hit. In this case: Reset>SYS>SYS>WEP>WEP>WEP.
If you don't do it in the right order, the pattern becomes Reset>WEP>WEP>SYS>SYS>WEP

1/2/3- Okay, this is the most convoluted of the three. You have to set up a 2/0/4 pattern as above. The section you want to have 1 pip needs to be the 2 and the section you want to end with 2 pips has to be empty. 3 pips in WEP, 2 in ENG, and 1 in SYS goes like this: Reset>SYS>SYS>WEP>WEP>WEP>ENG>ENG

Obviously you can use these patterns for any combination of the three sections.

Never used it, could you have it go 1/4/1 by saying "full power to engines, Scotty!"?

You can do whatever you want, your mind is the limit with voice attack. I have some pretty crazy commands built into my ships computer, around 2000 commands in total (built over 4 years)

Lol, just remembered, I have a 'Punch It' command, FSD charges and Chewbacca gives a roar.

I cannot see this issue.

I use keyboard and have no issues setting the pips, to any configuration I wish.

Thanks for the answers Lol, i never realised there were half pips!! thus this solves a few hair pulling moments, however, i retain my argument that using a hat on joystick to get 3/2/1 is impossibly hard. Indeed i tried the keyboard and found it no easier!

Yes, the default hat switches can get any combination I can think of, some complicated ones could be set and then saved.
Isn’t there save slots for pip presets? Or did I read that on here and misunderstand; that they were using third party maccros?
Anyway, it can be done. One way or another, to have single click saved configs, but I don’t bother. Push them around with the defaults and plenty quick for me.

Most of the time I’m either resetting for balance or maxing a single side anyway. And when I max a side I usually reset first so the other two will have one pip each.
