Hey, he's about to leave. Let's all go, too!

I've noticed something peculiar about NPC behaviour in 3.3, particularly in Solo but presumably also in other modes where you're the only player present in an instance.

If I'm sitting on the pad at a station, using station services (or reading the galaxy map, or the Codex, or Galnet, or whatever), NPCs are flying in all around me like they've always done - but they're not leaving again straight away like they normally do. They're all just landing and sitting there on their pads, just like me. But as soon as I close the services screen and get ready for takeoff, every single one of those NPCs sitting on their pads simultaneously decide they're going to take off too. You hear and see this big "whoosh" as up to a dozen ships all take to the air at once. Which, of course, creates this massive backlog of hovering NPC ships all queuing up to exit the slot.

It's like theyr'e all watching me, waiting for me to takeoff and taking off themselves just before I do, in a deliberate, orchestrated attempt to create an obstacle course for me.

Yep noticed that as well, I think the worst I have seen is 7 ships in front of me. And I know that if I try to be first, one of them will have the same idea and try to get to the slot first. I just wait, and follow (abet very closely) the last ship normally only have to wait a minute or two. But yeah it is kind of strange that suddenly so many ships decide to leave at exactly the same time :D

Happens in PG, too. Had six or seven ships leaving a coriolis at the same time as me. Waited for them to leave - they didn’t. Thought “sod this” and boosted out. First and only time I’ve seen it.

very interesting

I've had that happen to me but I was rising up out of the hanger to launch and noticed 6 or 7 ships just hanging there. For a few seconds I was confused what was going on. But like others said, the ship closest to the slot started throttling up and each one politely left the base with me in tow.

Not something I see every day in the ED Galaxy. GL HF people

Hmmm... just like real life.

I leave the grocery store and go to my car and it just so happens that the person in the car next to mine is already there with all the doors opened loading up and in no real hurry either.

Then, when I'm leaving and backing out, the guy directly in back of me is also backing out along with the guy a few cars over backing out.

Then when they're out of my way someone else is walking in back of my car... also in no hurry.

FD want you to become impatient and speed/boost out of the dock in order for you to crash into something, get a fine (or accidentally 'murder' someone) so the station can destroy you. Apparently it's called emergent game play. :D :D

Leave at full throttle on afterburner weaving through the traffic, just like commuting in London but without the danger.

If the London comparison is true that would mean that black ships with an orange/yellow light on the roof would have priority, though to do it properly the commander would need the right 'knowledge'.

They should constantly transmit Daily Mail "facts" and complain about uber.

They're all fans - or paparazzi 😁

A couple of times in 3.3 I've showed up to an outpost, another player has been docked on one of the pads for a while, and every other pad is occupied with an NPC which doesn't want to move.
