What makes you think that gankers ONLY gank weak players? Most gankers I know only do it when they're bored and the CG is either dead or ridiculously far away. Most gankers enjoy epic PvP battles but get tired of fighting the same players over and over again.
If Fdev ever included rewards and reason for consensual PvP most gankers and players like myself would be too busy fighting each other and the new players it would bring than you in your paper built asp explorer. Nothing they could do would completely get rid of gankers/griefers but a reward system for consensual would seriously hamper them.

A lot these discussions seem based on really incomplete understandings of people. This goes for both/all sides.
Folks are complex and do all kinds of stuff for all kinds of reasons all the time. I've learned that to boil it down to strict, rigid understandings like 'PvEer' and 'PvPer' is folly in the utmost. Just does not really work for a game like Elite.

You're correct. It's a huge error to inject "PvEer" and PvPer" as absolute terms into these sorts of discussions. Admittedly one I myself make on ocassion.
Fact is that most (if not all) players walk a gray line somewhere in between the two extremes.

pvper and pveer are abstractions, and thus can be very useful terms in the context of an informed conversation. the problem is using them as a convenient oversimplification of reality. people love simple explanations precisely because they are simple and unidimensional, and people tends to be lazy when it comes to shaking their brains. unfortunately, being simple doesn't make them any good.

You appear to be suffering under the misapprehension that ganking is anything other than aways against a weaker target. If it wasn't, then it wouldn't be ganking.
Your target may well be not an underpowered or underdefended one, but ganging up to kill that target is defined by using far superior force that the target has no chance to "win".

Well, that would be because you use the term ganker.
I didn't say that gankers ONLY do ganking. Far from it. Do try to keep up. I already said that if you got the PvP you desired, that you'd pursue that, but not at the exclusion of ganking, you'd still do that as well. Since variety is the spice of life, right?
So, which is it? Ganker or not?
Also, you mention that it is devoted PvP combateers ( who by their very nature only use PvE as a method necessary method of improving their PvP efficacy, and don't do PvE as an end in itself - so I'm comfortable to use the PvP distinction.) Who gank out of boredom of fighting the same players over. Why? Why can't you just spice it up a bit with different builds against same opponents with also different builds. The possibilities are endless, yet you still pursue ganking. This indicates that you just *want* to gank. You're not forced into it. It's just a lame cheese excuse. But we're not taken in by this lie. You'd do yourself a favour by not lying about it.

Dude, that's so good.
i have been playing FA4 about a year and was really hyped to go play 76 .......... but then a friend introduced me to Elite.., he is always in PG now... and other friends joined his PG..
so i have to say, it would be a great change to see those pvp rules in here , there are many other examples of how to "fix" the gWankers issue , but this one remains öpen" like in the wasteland of 76..
i vote yes , to the posibility of setting up this pvp acceptance mechanic
